Liquid Swords, the Swedish developer behind Samson: A Tyndalston Story, has closed following bankruptcy reporting in October 2026. Founder Christofer Sundberg says he plans to form another studio with a small, experienced team, low fixed costs and a game that can be completed without optimistic sales forecasts. His proposed use of artificial intelligence is deliberately limited: prototyping, repetitive production work and testing, with experienced developers deciding when the tools help and when to stop using them.
Sundberg also said the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of Samson performed “much greater” than the PC release, but not well enough to carry the company “across the finish line.”

What does Sundberg want to change in his next studio?
Sundberg says the next company would be designed around affordability rather than growth. His stated model is “A small, experienced team, low running costs and a game we can afford to finish without needing every sales forecast to come true.” That is a financial-control strategy: reduce the number of people and fixed commitments that must be funded, and set a production target that can survive weaker-than-expected sales.

His principle is that tool choice must remain subordinate to expertise. “You need people who understand the work well enough to know when AI helps and when to switch it off,” he said, adding that he would like the industry to discuss those boundaries more openly. In his view, calling a company “AI-first” does not amount to a production plan or business strategy unless people understand both the work and the problem a tool is meant to solve.
