Xbox announced that eligible Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members could claim each game from August 1 through August 31, 2023. That limited-time offer has ended; these games are not currently available to claim through it.
What were the final Games with Gold games?
Xbox Wire named Blue Fire and Inertial Drift as the August 2023 Games with Gold titles. The announcement listed an estimated retail price (ERP) of $19.99 for each game and set both claim windows for August 1–31, 2023. Those figures describe the 2023 announcement, not current store prices. Xbox’s July 27, 2023 announcement identified Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members as eligible for the offer; it did not spell out every regional or account-specific redemption rule.

The announcement presents two different kinds of play: platforming and puzzle challenges in Blue Fire, versus a distinctive drifting control model in Inertial Drift. It does not provide review scores, playtime, difficulty ratings, or performance comparisons, so those cannot be used to rank the games against each other.
What happened to Games with Gold?
Xbox said Games with Gold would end on September 1, 2023. In the same announcement, Xbox said Xbox Live Gold memberships would transition automatically to Xbox Game Pass Core beginning September 14, 2023, without a price change at that time. The announcement described Core then as including online console multiplayer, a library of more than 25 games, and member deals and discounts; that is a historical description, not a statement of current catalog size or service terms.

Xbox also said members could continue accessing previously redeemed Games with Gold titles while remaining Xbox Game Pass Core or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. The statement concerned games already redeemed, not an extension of the August claim window. Xbox’s July 2023 Game Pass Core announcement provides the service-transition context.
