Gaming venture-capital funding reached $594 million in Q1 2024, a 94% increase from Q4 2023, according to Konvoy Ventures’ Q1 2024 report. Konvoy also counted 124 deals, up 28% quarter over quarter. The dollar increase and deal-count increase are separate measures.
What the 94% increase measures
The comparison is Q1 2024 against Q4 2023. Konvoy’s figure is gaming VC funding—not all private investment in gaming, company revenue, or public-market performance. GamesBeat reported the Q4 2023 comparison amount as $319 million.

Why the total needs context
Several large transactions were associated with the quarter. GamesBeat listed Disney’s $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games, a $110 million Build A Rocket Boy deal, and a $100 million Second Dinner deal. These transactions help explain why a quarter’s aggregate can rise sharply; they do not show that funding improved equally across all companies or market segments.
Konvoy managing partner Josh Chapman described the increase as a possible turning point. In a statement quoted by GamesBeat in April 2024, he said: “The investment climate around gaming has now turned a corner. We believe the worst of this correction cycle is behind us and 2024 and 2025 will showcase a healthy VC investment pace, a few selective M&A events, notable IPOs next year, and continued secular growth for the industry.” That was his forecast at the time, not evidence that those outcomes later occurred.

The reported figures establish a steep quarter-over-quarter rise in gaming VC funding from Q4 2023 to Q1 2024. One quarter’s increase alone cannot establish a sustained recovery or describe the market today. The sources cited here do not provide a subsequent market series to confirm a lasting trend.
