Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minute“Could not load SOLIDWORKS DLL: GdtAnalysisSupport.dll” is the clearest known error involving gdtanalysissupport.dll. You may also see that gdtanalysissupport.dll is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded when SOLIDWORKS starts, opens a file, runs a macro, or uses a related feature.
This is usually a SOLIDWORKS installation problem, not a missing Windows system file. The safest solution is to repair or reinstall SOLIDWORKS from its original installation source rather than downloading a replacement DLL.

Which fix applies to you
Use this list to start with the path that matches what happened:
- The error appeared after a SOLIDWORKS update, repair, or reinstall: run SOLIDWORKS Repair first.
- SOLIDWORKS was recently installed on a replacement PC: remove the incomplete installation and reinstall the same release from the official SOLIDWORKS account or installation media.
- Your antivirus recently detected or quarantined a file: inspect quarantine history before restoring anything.
- The file exists in the SOLIDWORKS folder, but the error says “specified module could not be found”: a dependency may be missing.
- The error also names
MSVCP,VCRUNTIME, or another Microsoft runtime DLL: repair the correctly matched Visual C++ Redistributable. - You use an older SOLIDWORKS release and the problem began after a Windows update: check the historically documented KB3072630 installation conflict.
- Other Windows applications also fail or Windows reports damaged components: run DISM followed by SFC.
- You were advised to copy the file into
System32or runregsvr32: do not do that as a first repair. This DLL belongs with the application that installed it.
What gdtanalysissupport.dll is
gdtanalysissupport.dll is associated with GDTAnalysis functionality used by SOLIDWORKS. Public file metadata describes the internal name as GdtAnalysisSupport, lists the product as GDTAnalysis, and identifies PrizMetrik as the publisher shown in that metadata.

The indexed file information reports 64-bit builds, including version 10.0.45.0 and version 9.14.0.0, each approximately 0.18 MB. These details are useful for identification, but they are not proof that either version belongs with every SOLIDWORKS release. Always use the copy installed by your specific SOLIDWORKS version.
This is not a Windows-protected system component. It should normally be located in the SOLIDWORKS installation directory or in a component directory chosen by the SOLIDWORKS installer. It should not normally be copied to:
C:WindowsSystem32
C:WindowsSysWOW64
A 64-bit DLL also cannot be loaded by a 32-bit process. Current SOLIDWORKS installations are generally expected to use the architecture supported by that release, but do not mix a file from another release to resolve an architecture problem.
Errors and symptoms you may see
The exact wording depends on whether SOLIDWORKS or the Windows loader reports the failure. Possible messages include:
Could not load SOLIDWORKS DLL: GdtAnalysisSupport.dllThe program can't start because gdtanalysissupport.dll is missing from your computer. The code execution cannot proceed because gdtanalysissupport.dll was not found.Error loading gdtanalysissupport.dll. The specified module could not be found.gdtanalysissupport.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.
The first message is specifically documented by SOLIDWORKS. The other messages are generic Windows loader messages and do not by themselves prove that the DLL is damaged.
SOLIDWORKS-related symptoms can include:
- SOLIDWORKS failing to launch
- A file failing to open
- Missing add-ins in the Tools menu
- Macro crashes
- Equation instability
- Problems involving the DWG document manager
- Pack and Go failures
A “missing” message does not always mean the named file is absent. Windows can show “the specified module could not be found” when the named DLL exists but one of its dependent DLLs is missing or incompatible.
Fix 1: Repair SOLIDWORKS
Repair is the safest and most likely solution because it restores the files and components expected by the installed SOLIDWORKS release.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsRepair from Windows Settings
- Close SOLIDWORKS and any related Dassault Systèmes applications.
- Press Windows + I.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps in Windows 11, or Apps & features in Windows 10.
- Search for SOLIDWORKS.
- Select the three-dot menu beside the installation.
- Choose Modify, Change, or Repair, depending on what Windows displays.
- Allow SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager to start.
- Select Repair the individual installation if prompted.
- Select the affected SOLIDWORKS release.
- Continue through the wizard and select Repair.
- Restart Windows after the repair finishes.
Repair from Control Panel
- Press Windows + R.
- Type:
appwiz.cpl
- Press Enter.
- Select SOLIDWORKS in the installed-program list.
- Select Change.
- Choose Repair when SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager opens.
- Complete the wizard.
- Restart the computer.
- Start SOLIDWORKS and repeat the action that originally failed.
A successful repair should allow SOLIDWORKS to start without the DLL message and restore the affected feature, add-in, macro, or file-opening operation. Check Tools and Add-Ins if the problem involved a missing add-in.
If Repair is unavailable or fails, reinstall the same SOLIDWORKS release from the original installation media, official account, or your company’s approved administrative image. Do not copy an isolated DLL from another computer.

Standalone installations and administrative images
The exact procedure differs depending on how SOLIDWORKS was deployed:
- A standalone installation is repaired on the affected computer through Programs and Features or Installation Manager.
- An administrative-image installation is repaired or reinstalled from the company’s administrative image.
If you do not know which type you have, ask the person who deployed SOLIDWORKS before removing it. A workstation connected to a company image may require the same release, service pack, serial configuration, and installation options as other machines in the office.

Fix 2: Check the historically documented KB3072630 conflict
SOLIDWORKS documented a specific installation and repair problem involving Microsoft update KB3072630. The guidance applies particularly to SOLIDWORKS 2011 through 2015 and SOLIDWORKS 2016 beta, not automatically to every modern SOLIDWORKS installation.
Do not casually uninstall KB3072630. SOLIDWORKS identifies it as an important security update. The documented approach is to use a temporary installer-policy workaround, repair or reinstall SOLIDWORKS, and then restore the policy value.
Before changing the registry:
- Confirm your SOLIDWORKS release.
- Confirm that the failure began during or after an installation, update, or repair.
- Ask your IT administrator to handle the procedure if this is a managed computer.
- Back up the registry or create an approved system recovery point.
Check for KB3072630
- Press Windows + R.
- Type:
appwiz.cpl
- Press Enter.
- Select View installed updates.
- Search for
KB3072630. - Note whether it is installed.
You can also open Settings > Windows Update > Update history and search the installed-update list.
Apply the documented registry workaround only when appropriate
The relevant registry location is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsInstaller
The value is:
RemappedElevatedProxiesPolicy
The documented temporary value is 1. After the SOLIDWORKS repair or reinstall is complete, restore the value to 0.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Because incorrect registry edits can cause serious problems, do not create or change this value from memory if your situation does not match the documented SOLIDWORKS scenario. Use the official SOLIDWORKS procedure or have IT perform it. Do not leave the value set to 1 after the repair.
Once the policy step is complete, use Control Panel > Programs and Features > SOLIDWORKS > Change > Repair, or reinstall from the approved administrative image. Restart Windows, test SOLIDWORKS, and verify that the registry value has been returned to 0.
Fix 3: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software can remove or quarantine an application DLL after a detection, incomplete update, or change in file reputation.

- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
gdtanalysissupport.dll, SOLIDWORKS, or the SOLIDWORKS installation directory. - Record the detection name and file path.
- Do not restore the file immediately.
- Confirm that the original SOLIDWORKS installation is digitally trusted and that your security administrator approves the restoration.
- If approved, restore the file and add an exception only under your organization’s security policy.
- Run SOLIDWORKS Repair afterward so the installation is restored from its approved source.
If the file came from an unknown download, a temporary folder, an email attachment, or an unofficial installer, delete it rather than restoring it. Run a full Microsoft Defender scan or your organization’s approved security scan.
A quarantine event followed by a Repair is safer than manually replacing the file. If the same file is detected again, submit the detection to the security vendor and contact SOLIDWORKS support.
Fix 4: Check whether a dependency is missing
A DLL can be present and still fail to load because another library it needs is absent, blocked, or the wrong architecture.
Look closely at the complete error message. If it names a file such as MSVCP, VCRUNTIME, or another Microsoft runtime component, repair the appropriate prerequisite rather than replacing gdtanalysissupport.dll.
Do not assume that every message naming this DLL is caused by Visual C++. There is no authoritative evidence that the DLL itself is supplied by Visual C++.

Microsoft provides separate Visual C++ Redistributables for x64 and x86 applications. The package architecture must match the application that needs it.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.
- Locate the installed x64 or x86 package named in the loader message or identified by SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager.
- Select its three-dot menu.
- Select Modify.
- Select Repair.
- Restart Windows.
- Test SOLIDWORKS again.
If the required package is not installed, use Microsoft’s current Visual C++ Redistributable documentation and official download links. The x64 package is vc_redist.x64.exe; the x86 package is vc_redist.x86.exe. Install both architectures only when your computer runs applications that require both. Installing Visual C++ will not recreate a missing SOLIDWORKS DLL.
If Repair still fails, return to SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager and repair the complete SOLIDWORKS installation.
Fix 5: Run DISM and SFC for Windows component corruption
DISM and SFC repair Windows components. They do not normally restore a missing third-party SOLIDWORKS DLL, so use them after checking SOLIDWORKS Repair, antivirus quarantine, and dependencies.

- Wait for DISM to reach completion.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until SFC reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test SOLIDWORKS again.
Microsoft’s recommended order is DISM first, then SFC. If SFC reports that it repaired files, restart and retest. If it reports that it could not repair some files, repeat the SOLIDWORKS repair rather than downloading a replacement DLL.
Manually checking Windows components and waiting through DISM and SFC can be tedious, especially when the underlying issue is still an application installation problem. Outbyte PC Repair offers a free scan that shows what it identifies, while repair is completed by the full version; it is optional, and reinstalling SOLIDWORKS remains the definitive fix for a damaged application file.
Fix 6: Update or reinstall the SOLIDWORKS installation
If Repair does not restore the file, perform a clean, controlled reinstall.
- Record the SOLIDWORKS release, service pack, serial information, and installation type.
- Back up templates, macros, settings, and company files.
- Close all SOLIDWORKS processes.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Select SOLIDWORKS and choose Uninstall or Modify.
- Use the official SOLIDWORKS installation source approved by your organization.
- Install the same release first rather than mixing files from another version.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch SOLIDWORKS as a normal user.
- Test the previously failing operation.
- Reapply approved templates, add-ins, and settings only after the base installation works.
If the installation is managed by an administrative image, do not use a random standalone installer. Ask IT for the correct image and service pack. A mixed installation can leave incompatible versions of application components on the same machine.

Fix 7: Check Windows Features and Device Manager only when symptoms support it
Windows Features and Device Manager do not normally restore gdtanalysissupport.dll, but they can help identify related system problems.
Check Windows Features
- Press Windows + R.
- Type:
optionalfeatures
- Press Enter.
- Look for a feature that your SOLIDWORKS installation specifically requires.
- Do not enable or disable random features to fix the DLL message.
- Apply only a change recommended by SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager or your IT administrator.
- Restart if Windows requests it.
Check Device Manager
- Right-click the Start button.
- Select Device Manager.
- Look for yellow warning icons under Display adapters, System devices, and other hardware categories relevant to the failing SOLIDWORKS operation.
- Right-click a device with a warning.
- Select Properties and read the device status.
- Update or reinstall the driver only when the device status identifies a problem.
- Restart Windows and test SOLIDWORKS.
Driver repair is relevant when SOLIDWORKS also shows graphics, licensing, or hardware-related failures. It does not replace a missing application DLL.
When several devices need checking, manually hunting versions and deciding which of dozens of drivers is stale can be time-consuming. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for driver issues, while driver installation is completed by the full version; use it only as an optional aid, and keep SOLIDWORKS Repair as the primary fix for this file.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why you should not download or register the DLL
Avoid websites offering an isolated gdtanalysissupport.dll download. A downloaded file may contain malware, have the wrong version, be built for the wrong architecture, or be incompatible with your SOLIDWORKS release. It may also hide the real cause, such as a failed installer, quarantined file, or missing dependency.
The safe sources are:
- SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager
- The official SOLIDWORKS account or installation media
- Your organization’s approved administrative image
- Microsoft’s official runtime downloads when the loader specifically identifies a Microsoft dependency
Do not copy the file into System32 or SysWOW64. That can make troubleshooting harder and may cause Windows or another application to load an unintended version.
regsvr32 is also not a general DLL repair command. It applies to DLLs that provide a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. There is no reliable public evidence that this SOLIDWORKS runtime DLL is self-registering. Running commands such as these is therefore not a supported repair:
regsvr32 gdtanalysissupport.dll
regsvr32 /u gdtanalysissupport.dll
If the command reports that the entry point is missing, that does not repair the installation. Use SOLIDWORKS Repair instead.

Prevention after the repair
Once SOLIDWORKS works again:
- Keep the installation on an approved SOLIDWORKS release and service pack.
- Do not mix DLLs from different workstations or releases.
- Record whether the installation is standalone or administrative-image based.
- Review antivirus quarantine before restoring application files.
- Keep Windows and SOLIDWORKS installers available for the installed release.
- Back up templates, macros, settings, and licensing information before major updates.
- Do not remove important Windows security updates to solve an application repair issue.
- Test add-ins, macros, equations, file opening, and Pack and Go if those were affected.
When to escalate to IT or SOLIDWORKS support
Prepare these details before requesting help:
- The exact SOLIDWORKS version and service pack.
- Whether the installation is standalone or from an administrative image.
- The complete error message.
- The operation that fails, such as launch, file opening, macro execution, add-in loading, or Pack and Go.
- The full path where
gdtanalysissupport.dllis present, if it exists. - Whether the file was quarantined.
- Whether the error began after an update, repair, reinstall, or Windows change.
- The result of SOLIDWORKS Repair.
- Whether the loader names an
MSVCP,VCRUNTIME, or other dependency. - Relevant Installation Manager or installer logs.
This information separates a missing file from a blocked file, a missing dependency, an architecture mismatch, and a release-specific installation conflict.
FAQ
Is gdtanalysissupport.dll part of Windows?
No evidence identifies it as a Windows system component. It is associated with GDTAnalysis functionality and SOLIDWORKS. It should normally remain with the SOLIDWORKS installation.
Should I put it in System32?
No. Copying it to System32 or SysWOW64 can load the wrong version and does not repair the SOLIDWORKS installation.
Is the file made by PrizMetrik?
Public file metadata shows PrizMetrik as the publisher associated with the file and identifies the product as GDTAnalysis. Those metadata details are not a substitute for verifying the signed file installed by your SOLIDWORKS release.
Will Visual C++ fix it?
Only if the loader also reports a missing or damaged Microsoft runtime, or SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager identifies that prerequisite. Visual C++ does not recreate a missing gdtanalysissupport.dll.
Should I run regsvr32?
No, not as a general repair. Registration applies only to DLLs that provide the appropriate registration entry point, and this DLL is not publicly established as requiring manual registration.
Could the file be present but still fail?
Yes. A dependency can be missing, the DLL can be the wrong architecture or release, antivirus can block it, or the installation can be damaged.
Do DISM and SFC restore this file?
Normally no. They repair Windows components. Run them when Windows corruption is also suspected, but repair or reinstall SOLIDWORKS for this application DLL.
What is the most reliable fix?
Use SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager’s Repair option. If Repair fails, reinstall the affected SOLIDWORKS release from its official source or approved administrative image.
