Gears of War: E-Day ranked second among the 2026 Xbox Game Pass debuts in TrueAchievements’ October 12 report: it drew more Xbox players at launch than Halo: Campaign Evolved, but fewer than Forza Horizon 6. The report gives relative comparisons, not exact player totals or sales figures.
Where E-Day placed in the Xbox debut ranking
TrueAchievements ranked Gears of War: E-Day No. 2 among the 2026 Xbox Game Pass game debuts covered in its October 12, 2026 report. Forza Horizon 6 was No. 1, and Halo: Campaign Evolved was No. 3. The comparison uses Xbox player engagement at launch, not units sold. TrueAchievements’ report attributes its chart data to Game Trends.

E-Day placed above Halo: Campaign Evolved
The Halo comparison is specifically with Halo: Campaign Evolved’s 2026 debut—not the Halo franchise, its entire history, or every Halo game’s player activity. TrueAchievements says E-Day had 8.6% more players at launch in this comparison.

Forza had the larger debut
Forza Horizon 6 led the reported ranking. E-Day reached 67.3% of Forza’s debut player count, so it did not match Forza’s launch engagement in the chart.
A separate weekly chart is not the debut ranking
In TrueAchievements’ Top 40 Xbox chart for the week ending October 12, E-Day was No. 1, Forza Horizon 6 was No. 6, and Halo: Campaign Evolved was No. 33. That is a different weekly popularity view, not a reversal of the launch-debut comparison.

What the player figures measure—and what they do not
TrueAchievements says the chart draws on gameplay data from more than 3.1 million active Xbox accounts, citing Game Trends, 2026. That sample gives context for the ranking, but the report does not supply the exact player totals or enough information to treat the percentages as total worldwide audience counts. The figures concern Xbox engagement, not sales across platforms.
That distinction matters because E-Day was available through Game Pass as well as for purchase. A player accessing a game through a subscription is not automatically a sale that would otherwise have occurred. As GamesRadar quoted Circana games analyst Mat Piscatella: “Not every person who plays a game via a sub service would buy that game were it not included in that service.”

How the separate sales and Game Pass estimates should be read
GamesRadar reported estimates from Alinea Analytics analyst Rhys Elliott of approximately 62,000 Xbox purchases, 168,000 Steam purchases, 1.7 million Game Pass players, and more than 722,000 premium upgrades. Microsoft had not confirmed those estimates, so they should not be described as official sales or player counts. They are also separate from TrueAchievements’ relative Xbox launch-player comparison; the two sets of figures do not measure the same thing.

Xbox Wire describes Gears of War: E-Day as an origin story set fourteen years before the original Gears of War. Its campaign follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago during Emergence Day in Kalona over three days. The Coalition said it focused the global catastrophe on one city to make its human impact more immediate. Studio Creative Director Matt Searcy described the design as one that “feels like Gears but plays like new” while reimagining and enhancing the original games’ feel with a new engine.
