Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteShort answer: NVIDIA’s March 12, 2026 GeForce NOW announcement produced one major shipped headset feature: Ultimate members can stream supported PC games at up to 90 frames per second on Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest, and Pico devices. The experience is a cloud-streamed game on a large virtual cinema screen—not native stereoscopic VR with tracked motion controllers. NVIDIA also announced GOG account linking and library synchronization, but its later June update still described that feature as “coming this summer,” so availability should be checked in the app rather than assumed.
What NVIDIA announced on March 12, 2026
At GDC, NVIDIA announced three related GeForce NOW updates:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- 90-FPS headset streaming: a move beyond the previous 60-FPS reference for supported VR and mixed-reality headsets.
- GOG account linking and library syncing: intended to make supported GOG purchases easier to find and launch through GeForce NOW.
- Better store discovery: labels for games available through connected Xbox Game Pass and Ubisoft+ accounts, alongside additional Install-to-Play Xbox titles.
NVIDIA also mentioned Brutal Legend and Contrast among Install-to-Play additions, plus games including CONTROL Resonant, Samson: A Tyndalston Story, and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. Fortnite’s Save the World was also part of the announcement, including the planned free-to-play change. These games are secondary to the durable service changes: headset performance, account discovery, and storefront access. NVIDIA’s March 12 announcement gives the original rollout details.
90-FPS headset streaming is now documented as available
NVIDIA announced a March 19 rollout, and its current release highlights document the 90-FPS feature as available to Ultimate members. The headline is “up to 90 FPS,” not a guarantee that every game or connection will sustain that rate.

- TRIFORCE TITANIUM 50 MM DRIVERS — Our cutting-edge proprietary design divides the driver into 3 parts for the individual tuning of highs, mids, and lows—producing brighter, clearer audio with richer highs and more powerful lows
- HYPERCLEAR CARDIOID MIC — An improved pickup pattern ensures more voice and less noise as it tapers off towards the mic’s back and sides, with the sweet spot easily placed at the mouth because of the mic’s bendable design
- ADVANCED PASSIVE NOISE CANCELLATION — Sturdy closed earcups fully cover the ears to prevent noise from leaking into the headset, with its cushions providing a closer seal for more sound isolation
- LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN WITH MEMORY FOAM EAR CUSHIONS — At just 240 g, the headset features thicker headband padding and memory foam ear cushions with leatherette to keep gaming in peak form during grueling tournaments and training sessions
- WORKS WITH WINDOWS SONIC — Make the most of the headset’s powerful drivers by pairing it with lifelike surround sound that places audio with pinpoint accuracy, heightening in-game awareness and immersion
| Device or mode | NVIDIA-listed maximum |
|---|---|
| Balanced mode | Up to 1080p at 90 FPS |
| Meta Quest and Pico in Custom mode | Up to 1440p at 90 FPS |
| Apple Vision Pro | Up to 4K at 90 FPS |
These are service-mode ceilings. Actual results depend on the headset, selected settings, game, network route, data-center distance, and service conditions. NVIDIA’s release highlights identify Ultimate as the required membership tier.
Supported headsets
NVIDIA lists Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, Quest 3S, Pico 4, and Pico 4 Ultra for its immersive-display experience. The Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest setup pages specify GeForce NOW client version 2.0.83 or later for 90-FPS support. If the option is missing, update the client or browser experience before troubleshooting anything else.
This is virtual-screen gaming, not ordinary native VR gaming
The most important qualification is that GeForce NOW’s headset experience is described by NVIDIA as 2D Cinema mode. A supported PC game is rendered remotely and displayed on a large virtual screen inside the headset.

- native stereoscopic VR rendering;
- remote positional tracking from a VR game;
- full motion-controller gameplay;
- a replacement for a VR-ready local gaming PC; or
- CloudXR-style native VR streaming.
The headset controllers can navigate the GeForce NOW interface, but NVIDIA says they do not function as gamepads during streaming. You need a supported physical controller, such as a compatible Xbox or PlayStation gamepad, for gameplay. See NVIDIA’s system requirements before buying hardware.
GOG support: separate the store, the games, and account syncing
“GOG support” can describe several different things, and they are not interchangeable:

- You own a game through GOG.
- NVIDIA supports that game’s GOG version.
- You can launch the game through GeForce NOW after selecting GOG as the storefront.
- You can link your GOG account and synchronize supported purchases into your library.
- The service handles sign-in more conveniently through account linking or single sign-on.
The March announcement described account linking and library syncing as coming in the following months. NVIDIA’s June 18 game-store update still described GOG single sign-on and library syncing as “coming this summer.” On the evidence available here, treat the feature as a rollout to verify—not as a guaranteed, universally live function.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →That uncertainty does not mean GOG games are entirely absent from GeForce NOW. NVIDIA has discussed supported GOG versions of games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. However, GOG ownership alone does not guarantee that a title will appear, and a game may be supported through one storefront while unavailable through another. Check the specific game, store version, and current supported-games catalog before purchasing a title for cloud play. NVIDIA’s June 18 update explains the distinction between store support and the planned account features.
GeForce NOW does not normally include every game
GeForce NOW is primarily a cloud gaming service for games you already own or can access through a linked subscription. A membership does not automatically grant ownership of most paid games.
The new in-app labels for Xbox Game Pass and Ubisoft+ are designed to show when a connected subscription provides access to a supported title. They should reduce guesswork, but they do not erase the underlying requirements: the game must be supported, the correct account must be linked, and the relevant store or subscription version must be recognized.
Publisher licensing, game updates, store-version differences, and catalog changes can delay or remove support. Cloud saves are also useful only when the game and storefront support them correctly.
Network requirements for 90-FPS headset play
NVIDIA lists these approximate bandwidth requirements for headset streaming:

NVIDIA requires latency below 80 milliseconds to an NVIDIA data center. For Apple Vision Pro, NVIDIA recommends latency below 40 milliseconds even though the stated requirement is below 80 milliseconds. A 5-GHz Wi-Fi connection is recommended, while wired Ethernet is preferable where practical. Use GeForce NOW’s own in-app network test: a generic broadband speed test cannot show the latency and routing conditions that matter to the service.
Setup checklist
- Update the client: use version 2.0.83 or later for the documented 90-FPS headset feature.
- Confirm the membership: 90-FPS headset streaming requires Ultimate.
- Verify the headset: use a model listed by NVIDIA for the immersive-display experience.
- Pair a gamepad: the headset’s included VR controllers are for app navigation, not streamed game control.
- Run NVIDIA’s network test: check latency to NVIDIA rather than relying only on your advertised internet speed.
- Choose a realistic mode: lower resolution can be preferable to chasing a maximum setting on a congested connection.
- Check the storefront: confirm that the exact Steam, GOG, Xbox, or Ubisoft version is supported.
- Check regional access: membership availability and data-center proximity vary by country.
Common problems and fixes
The 90-FPS option is missing
Update to version 2.0.83 or later, confirm that the account is Ultimate, and verify that the headset is supported. If all three are correct, sign out and back in before treating the problem as a service fault.
The image stutters or looks soft
Run NVIDIA’s in-app network test, try 5-GHz Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet, and reduce resolution if necessary. A new router cannot fix a distant data center or a congested ISP route, so latency matters as much as bandwidth.
The headset controllers do not control the game
That is expected for this mode. Pair a supported Xbox or PlayStation controller. Buying a gamepad will not, however, make a native VR game work through the 2D Cinema experience.
A GOG game is missing
Check whether the game and its GOG version are supported, select the correct storefront, and determine whether GOG library synchronization has rolled out to your account. Do not assume that every GOG purchase will automatically appear.
You own a game, but GeForce NOW says it is unavailable
Ownership is only one requirement. Check the supported-games list, storefront selector, publisher licensing, and whether the title is available through the account or subscription currently connected.

Who should upgrade?
Consider Ultimate if you already own supported PC games, have a Quest, Pico, or Vision Pro headset, can use a physical controller, and have low-latency access to an NVIDIA data center. It is particularly attractive if you want a higher-quality virtual-screen experience without buying or upgrading a local gaming PC.

Wait or stay on a lower tier if 90 FPS is not important, your connection struggles with sustained streaming, or you mainly want the cheapest way to access a game catalog. Do not use historical RTX 4080-era prices as current pricing; NVIDIA’s older release material includes legacy figures, and the June 2026 discounts were dated promotions rather than a reliable current price list.
Choose something else if your goal is native VR. A local gaming PC remains the most flexible option for tracked motion, mods, offline play, and the lowest possible input latency. Console VR platforms provide native headset experiences within their ecosystems. Shadow offers a remotely hosted Windows PC with more hands-on flexibility, while Boosteroid and Xbox Cloud Gaming have different game catalogs, device support, regions, and latency profiles. None should be assumed to be interchangeable with GeForce NOW.
What the update actually means
The March announcement matters most to Ultimate subscribers who want conventional PC games on a large headset screen: the 90-FPS mode is now documented as shipped, and the supported hardware list is broad enough to cover major Vision Pro, Quest, and Pico families. It is not a general native-VR cloud service.
GOG account linking could make storefront management much easier, but NVIDIA’s later wording still treated library synchronization as forthcoming. Until the feature is visible in your account, verify each game and storefront manually. The practical decision is therefore simple: upgrade for the headset streaming performance only if you meet the Ultimate, controller, headset, and latency requirements; do not subscribe solely on the assumption that all GOG games will sync automatically.
