NVIDIA’s official RTX 3080 unboxing features the Founders Edition, presented by GeForce Garage host Dwight Lackmann. NVIDIA’s guide depicts the graphics card, a Quick Start Guide, a Support Guide and a dual PCIe 12-pin power dongle. Those are the documented items—not a guarantee that every regional, used or partner-card package contains the same accessories.
What comes in the box with the RTX 3080 Founders Edition?
NVIDIA’s Founders Edition user guide depicts four items in its unpacking section:

- A Quick Start Guide
- A Support Guide
- An NVIDIA Dual PCIe 12-pin Power Dongle
The guide shows the expected Founders Edition equipment, but it does not establish that every retail bundle, region, used card or board-partner model has identical contents. For a particular unboxing, show the contents of that exact package and identify any missing or substituted item. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 user guide
Which RTX 3080 is this?
The original RTX 3080 Founders Edition is the 10 GB GDDR6X configuration. NVIDIA’s 2020 launch announcement lists it with 8,704 CUDA cores. NVIDIA’s later product-family page also lists a 12 GB RTX 3080 configuration, so those memory versions should not be treated as interchangeable when identifying a card or checking specifications.

NVIDIA cautions that add-in-card specifications vary by manufacturer. The Founders Edition dimensions and power figure should not be applied automatically to partner cards. Check the exact model’s specifications, especially when judging case clearance or power requirements. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 product page
What stands out in the Founders Edition design?
NVIDIA introduced the RTX 3080 in 2020 as part of the GeForce RTX 30 Series, based on Ampere, which it describes as its second-generation RTX architecture. Its launch materials cite second-generation ray-tracing cores, third-generation Tensor Cores and GDDR6X memory. These are NVIDIA’s architectural and product descriptions, not independent performance findings.
Rank #2
- Powered by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics processing unit (GPU) with a 1710MHz boost clock speed to help meet the needs of demanding games.
- 10GB GDDR6X (320-bit) video memory.
- PCI Express 4.0 and earlier PCI Express 3.0. Offers compatibility with a range of systems.
- Antialiasing and anisotropic filtering delivers striking graphics with incredible realism.
- HDMI and Display Port outputs enable flexible connectivity.
The Founders Edition’s cooling layout is visually distinctive: NVIDIA describes a dual axial flow-through arrangement. One fan pushes air through the fin stack toward vents at the GPU bracket; the other draws air toward the top chassis exhaust. That layout is useful to point out during a close-up, but a visual inspection alone says nothing definitive about temperatures, noise or gaming performance in a particular PC. What was the RTX 3080 launch price?
NVIDIA announced a $699 starting price for the RTX 3080 in 2020, when the card launched on September 17 of that year. Andrew Burnes’s September 1, 2020 NVIDIA GeForce News article said, “The new GeForce RTX 3080, launching first on September 17, 2020”. The $699 figure is historical launch pricing, not a current market price; present-day price, stock and seller terms are not established by those launch materials.
