It is Raiden Shogun’s signature weapon, but whether it is worthwhile for her or another polearm user depends on the character’s burst needs, role, team, and available alternatives. What Engulfing Lightning does
The weapon’s value comes from pairing Energy Recharge with an ATK bonus that scales from Energy Recharge above the base 100%. HoYoWiki describes the conversion as 28% to 56% across refinements. In practice, the weapon can help a character meet Energy Recharge needs while also adding ATK, but the benefit depends on how much Energy Recharge that character uses and whether ATK improves their role.
Level 90 stats and refinement 1 effect
GameWith’s weapon listing, updated October 6, 2026, gives Engulfing Lightning 608 Base ATK and 55.1% Energy Recharge at level 90. At refinement 1, the listed in-game description reads: “Attack increased by 28% of Energy Recharge over the base 100%. You can gain a maximum bonus of 80% ATK. Gain 30% Energy Recharge for 12s after using an Elemental Burst.” These are item parameters, not a damage ranking.
The extra Energy Recharge after using an Elemental Burst is temporary. The ATK conversion is capped, so adding Energy Recharge is not automatically beneficial without limit. Build decisions should account for the character’s burst rotation and other sources of Energy Recharge and ATK.

GameWith identifies Raiden Shogun as Engulfing Lightning’s signature user. The combination of Energy Recharge and ATK conversion aligns with a build that values both burst access and ATK-based damage. The signature label alone does not establish that it is the best choice for every Raiden team or account; compare it with the weapons you already have and the Energy Recharge her rotation requires.

GameWith also lists Xiangling, Zhongli, Rosaria, Shenhe, Yun Jin, and Mika as possible users. Treat that as a guide’s roster of candidates, not a universal ranking. Their roles and builds differ, so the weapon’s appeal changes with how much they need Energy Recharge, whether they benefit from ATK, and what alternatives or team buffs are available.
Is Engulfing Lightning better than The Catch?
There is no single answer that applies to every character and team. GameWith includes The Catch among comparable Energy Recharge polearms, but the cited material does not establish a numerical damage ranking between them. Compare the weapons for the specific character and rotation rather than judging by rarity or a general tier label.

- Time spent in the Burst: Account for how the character deals damage or supports the team during their Burst, rather than assuming a passive benefits every role equally.
- Build and team: Existing artifacts, team buffs, and competing weapons can change which option makes more sense.
How to get Engulfing Lightning
Engulfing Lightning is acquired through limited weapon banners, not as a permanent weapon-shop purchase. Availability changes over time. GameWith’s page updated October 6, 2026 says the weapon was not currently obtainable at that update and records a prior rate-up from July 21 to August 12, 2026. Those dates describe a past banner, not a current offer.
