Fans have also imagined new charms, armor effects, dyes, and Easter eggs—but those proposals are not a single agreed-on “formula,” and they are not part of the shipped mode unless Sucker Punch says so.
What does the “fan-invented NG+ formula” actually mean?
It is a way to frame fan speculation, not the name of a confirmed community plan. One example is a Reddit post proposing hypothetical DLC ideas, including a charm that changes pistol behavior, armor with distinctive combat effects, new dyes, and crossover-style Easter eggs. The post presents concepts, not a definitive New Game Plus blueprint or evidence of community consensus. Read the fan post on Reddit.

That distinction matters because the official mode is real and already contains its own replay and reward loop. Fan proposals can be compared with that feature set, but they should not be described as content Sucker Punch adopted.
What is actually in Ghost of Yōtei New Game Plus?
Sucker Punch added NG+ in free patch 1.100.000, announced November 19, 2025, for release November 24. It unlocks after the main story is complete. Starting a new run makes armor, abilities, and weapons earned in the first playthrough available from the beginning. Sucker Punch’s PlayStation Blog announcement also says the patch requires an internet connection and PlayStation account.

- 10 new charms and another upgrade tier for existing armor sets and weapons.
These are the announced feature counts for the 2025 patch, not a measure of how many fans support any particular design idea.
Other features in the same patch
The update also added replayable post-game content and a stats display, directional-button remapping, and Photo Mode options such as shutter speed, a composition grid, and new filters. These are base-game patch additions, not all NG+-exclusive features.

The fan concepts lean toward adding particular build effects and presentation details. The official design instead combines a new replay with retained progression, challenge options, and collectible rewards. That comparison describes the difference in emphasis; it does not imply that the proposals influenced development.
What changed in the October 2026 update?
Sony’s October 1, 2026 Complete Edition announcement says patch v.2.0 adds more NG+ cosmetics and an option to keep one armor set’s appearance while using another set’s stats. The patch was scheduled for October 2 in some territories, including parts of Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. The original NG+ mode was delivered in a free game update; Sony’s separately announced Complete Edition and upgrade are not prerequisites for that mode. Sony listed US announced prices of $69.99 for the Complete Edition and $14.99 for the Complete Edition Upgrade in August 2026. Those are dated US prices, not a guarantee of current pricing in every store or region.
How to start NG+
- Finish Ghost of Yōtei’s main story. NG+ unlocks after completion.
- Install patch 1.100.000 or a later update. The original patch announcement specified an internet connection and PlayStation account for the download.
- Start New Game Plus from the game’s available post-story options. Your first-run armor, abilities, and weapons carry into the replay.
The announcement does not specify an exact menu path, so the in-game label and placement may vary with later updates.

Bottom line: official mode, unofficial “formula”
Ghost of Yōtei’s NG+ is a free, official replay mode with carry-over progression, harder difficulty options, new currency and rewards, and additional equipment upgrades. Fans have proposed their own additions, but the cited ideas are individual speculation—not a unified formula, confirmed roadmap, or description of what shipped.
