What’s new in Ghost of Yōtei?
The Complete Edition brings together the PS5 base game, Ghost of Yōtei Legends, the new Echoes of Sekigahara expansion, Most Wanted, and previously released Digital Deluxe content. The two new modes are paid additions; the patch also brings separate free features to existing owners.

Echoes of Sekigahara
This narrative expansion follows Atsu between present-day Ezo and flashbacks to her time on the mainland, including the Battle of Sekigahara. It is included with the Complete Edition or Complete Edition Upgrade, not the free patch. PlayStation’s announcement describes the edition and its new content.
Most Wanted
Most Wanted is a single-player combat survival mode that Sucker Punch describes as its take on a roguelike. Runs are bounty-based, with perks and unlockable characters. It is part of the paid Complete Edition offer.

What existing owners get for free
Owners of Ghost of Yōtei receive these patch features without buying the Complete Edition Upgrade:
- Beauty of Yōtei mode.
- New tracks for Watanabe Mode. PlayStation clarified in an August 14 correction that these tracks are included in the free patch.
- An option to retain one armor set’s appearance while using another set’s stats.
- A high-contrast accessibility option.
The free patch content is distinct from Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted, which require the Complete Edition or Upgrade. Downloads require an internet connection and PlayStation account, according to PlayStation.

Complete Edition or Upgrade: which should you buy?
The right purchase depends on whether you already own the base game. Sony’s US PlayStation Store lists the full Complete Edition at $69.99 USD. The Complete Edition Upgrade is $14.99 USD and is for people who already own Ghost of Yōtei; it is not the standalone base game.

If you already own the game and only want the free patch features, no upgrade is needed. If you want the expansion and Most Wanted, compare the upgrade offer with your local store listing before buying.

Those dates have passed; the announcement does not establish the current rollout status in every territory, so use the local PlayStation Store page for availability.
Platform, story, and online play
Ghost of Yōtei is a PS5 game, marked PS5 Pro Enhanced on the official store. Sony describes it as a standalone story set in rural Japan in the 1600s, about 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima. It follows Atsu, a mercenary seeking revenge on those who killed her family. Sony’s launch announcement outlines the premise and edition details.

Ghost of Yōtei Legends is the online cooperative mode, supporting up to four players. Online multiplayer requires PlayStation Plus. The base game’s story and the new Most Wanted mode are single-player experiences; Legends is the component that involves online co-op. See the PlayStation Store listing for current product details.

At launch, Sony announced Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Collector’s editions at historical US MSRPs of $69.99, $79.99, and $249.99, respectively. These were launch prices announced in 2025, not a statement of current retail pricing. Sony also announced a themed PS5 bundle at a $599.99 launch MSRP and a Ghost of Yōtei DualSense controller at $84.99. Current inventory was not established in the announcement, so check authorized retailers for stock and current prices. Sony’s launch post lists those original editions and hardware.
