How do I update Ghost of Yōtei and the PS5 before troubleshooting?

4. Use Safe Mode as a later recovery step
When restart, storage, licensing, and redownload steps fail, start the PS5 in Safe Mode and choose Clear Cache and Rebuild Database. This is a console-maintenance step, not proof that Ghost of Yōtei itself caused the problem. Safe Mode belongs after updates, restart, storage, licensing, download, and save-preservation steps. Use Clear Cache and Rebuild Database for persistent launch or installation trouble; do not jump straight to system-software reinstallation.
- Appropriate earlier steps: update the game and PS5, restart, move the installation to internal storage, restore licenses, retry the download, and test a nearby save.
- Safe Mode maintenance: clear cache and rebuild the database when ordinary recovery has failed.
- Last resort: reinstall PS5 system software only after backing up data and documenting the error, version, and affected saves.
Reinstallation changes the console environment and can remove data, so it should not be used to investigate a single mission blocker before you have tried a current patch and an alternate save.
