You need to unlock or obtain a kit in the game before you can equip it. PlayStation also includes a digital Sword Kit with certain editions of the PS5 game.
What a sword kit does—and what it doesn’t
Sword kits are appearance options for your weapon. A kit’s visual style does not, by itself, establish that it improves damage, changes combat performance, or grants a stat bonus. Game8’s walkthrough treats kits as cosmetics and covers how to obtain and equip them; PlayStation’s official build guide instead discusses gameplay builds through armor and outfit features, charms, and, for some armor effects, weapon alignment.

Those are separate systems: collect a kit for its look, and shape a combat build with the gear and charms described in PlayStation’s builds guide.
Where to find sword kits
In-game kits must be unlocked or obtained before they can be equipped. Game8’s list of kits and how to get them is a secondary walkthrough source for acquisition guidance. Consult its current entries for the individual sources and locations rather than relying on a single total: guides can count sword kits differently from broader weapon-kit categories, so a count without a clearly defined scope can be misleading.

Use the game’s current prompts and the walkthrough’s specific entry for the kit you want. The official PlayStation pages cited here establish edition contents and other game features, but do not provide a kit-by-kit location guide.
How to equip an unlocked kit
Game8’s walkthrough directs players to apply an unlocked kit through the gear menus. The precise button sequence can depend on the interface and may change with updates, so follow the on-screen prompts in your current game.

- Open the in-game gear menus and select the weapon customization or kit option described in the current interface.
- Choose the unlocked kit and confirm the selection if prompted.
If the kit is missing from the selection list, first check that it has actually been obtained and that you are viewing the relevant weapon’s customization options.
Which editions include a Sword Kit?
PlayStation’s support page lists Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Collector’s Editions for the PS5 release. The Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Editions include a digital Sword Kit. The Collector’s Edition also lists physical collectibles—including a mask, sash, tsuba, papercraft tree, art cards, and a coin game with pouch—but those items are separate from the in-game kit.

Buying the game for the kit
The relevant physical purchase is the PS5 game on Blu-ray: the sword kit is digital content accessed in the game, not a real-world sword or standalone physical product. If the kit is your deciding factor, verify that the specific edition you are buying includes it and that the offer applies in your region. PlayStation’s edition support information is the reference for the listed editions; check the store listing before buying because contents and availability can change.
