The Gigabyte Radeon RX 9060 XT Gaming OC delivers mixed results beyond gaming: it performed well in HotHardware’s Stable Diffusion XL and Blackmagic RAW tests, but lagged NVIDIA cards in text-generation and Blender benchmarks. There is no single winner across AI and creator workloads; performance changes with the application, precision, and acceleration backend.

What HotHardware tested

HotHardware tested a 16GB Gigabyte Radeon RX 9060 XT Gaming OC with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 32GB of G.SKILL DDR5-6000 memory on an MSI X870E Carbon WiFi motherboard. The system ran Windows 11 Pro 24H2 with Resizable BAR enabled and memory configured using its EXPO profile. The listed drivers were AMD Radeon 25.5.1 and NVIDIA 572.50/575.94. The June 4, 2025 review compared the card with several Radeon and GeForce GPUs, including the RX 7600 XT, RX 7700 XT, RTX 3070 Ti, RTX 4060 Ti, and RTX 5060.

These results come from different applications and methods, not one standardized measure of creator performance. In particular, HotHardware used ONNX with DirectML for Procyon text generation, and ONNX for its Stable Diffusion XL comparison because TensorRT had not yet been updated for Blackwell at the time. The review’s Blackmagic test measured GPU decoding of Blackmagic RAW at 4K and 8K using different compression settings. Read HotHardware’s benchmark page and methodology.

How the RX 9060 XT performs in AI workloads

MLPerf Client inference

The RX 9060 XT Gaming OC beat the RX 7600 XT by a wide margin in HotHardware’s MLPerf Client results, but did not catch the RX 7700 XT and trailed the rest of the listed comparison group considerably. MLPerf Client is intended to measure inference on PC client systems; results can reflect hardware and software optimizations allowed under the benchmark’s accuracy rules.

Geekbench AI

Its Geekbench AI standing depended on precision: the RX 9060 XT was around the middle of the pack in the half-precision score and did better in single-precision and quantized tests. These are distinct workloads, so a result in one mode should not be treated as a universal AI ranking.

Procyon AI text generation

In Procyon’s text-generation tests, the RX 9060 XT landed between the RX 7700 XT and RX 7600 XT and trailed the RTX 5060 by a relatively large margin. HotHardware could not include 8GB GeForce cards in the final Llama 2 benchmark because they did not have enough memory to complete it. That is a limitation of those cards in this specific test, not a general statement about every 8GB AI workload.

Procyon Stable Diffusion XL

For Procyon’s demanding FP16 Stable Diffusion XL image-generation test, HotHardware reports that the RX 9060 XT outran the RX 7700 XT and trailed the RTX 5060 by about 10%. That comparison used ONNX as a point of reference because TensorRT had not yet been updated for Blackwell when the review was conducted. It should not be read as a prediction for every image-generation application or backend.

Is the RX 9060 XT good for Blender?

In Blender 4.3’s three default benchmark scenes, the RX 9060 XT finished between the RX 7700 XT and RX 7600 XT, and well behind the older RTX 3070 Ti, according to HotHardware. For a Blender-focused purchase, that result is a reason to compare the exact scenes and software setup you use rather than assume the card’s AI or gaming performance will carry over to rendering.

What the Blackmagic RAW results show

HotHardware’s Blackmagic RAW Speed Test 4.3.1 gave the RX 9060 XT a large lead over the RX 7600 XT, and it beat the RTX 4060 Ti in the 12:1 tests at the reported resolutions. The test covers GPU decoding of Blackmagic RAW at 4K and 8K with specified compression settings; it does not establish how the card performs across all video-editing software, codecs, effects, or export workflows.

Which RX 9060 XT model is being compared?

The review’s benchmark sample was a Gigabyte Radeon RX 9060 XT Gaming OC with 16GB of memory. Do not confuse it with Gigabyte’s official Radeon RX 9060 XT GAMING 8G product page, which specifies an 8GB card. That page lists a 128-bit GDDR6 interface, a boost clock up to 3130 MHz, and a game clock of 2530 MHz. Gigabyte also describes its WINDFORCE cooling, Hawk fans, RGB lighting, reinforced structure, and 3D Active Fan, which stops the fans under low-load or low-power gaming conditions. Those are manufacturer specifications and feature descriptions, not measurements from HotHardware’s review.

AMD announced launch suggested prices in May 2025 of $299 for the 8GB RX 9060 XT and $349 for the 16GB model, with starting total board power of 150W and 160W respectively. How to interpret RX 9060 XT versus RTX 5060 results

For AI and creator work, the HotHardware results do not support a universal RX 9060 XT or RTX 5060 winner. The RTX 5060 led the Radeon in the review’s Procyon text-generation comparison and by about 10% in its Stable Diffusion XL FP16 test, while the Radeon’s standing varied in other tests. Backend and memory requirements matter: an ONNX comparison is not interchangeable with a TensorRT result, and the Llama 2 result excluded 8GB GeForce cards for insufficient memory.

Gaming comparisons are a separate question. WIRED’s review found the RX 9060 XT traded blows with the RTX 5060 at 1080p and pulled ahead in its 1440p results, with performance varying by game. Those gaming findings do not establish which GPU is faster for inference, rendering, or video decoding. WIRED’s gaming review.

For a useful head-to-head, compare the application and version, workload or scene, settings, VRAM capacity, and acceleration backend you actually plan to use. Also compare current prices for the precise card models; the announced launch prices above are not a present-day market check.
