Public file listings identify 64-bit builds, including version 19.1.0.349, but Adobe does not publish an official DLL manifest confirming the file’s internal description, exact installation path, dependencies, or version history. Treat the file as part of the Adobe Animate installation.

What the error usually means
The wording gives useful clues, but it does not always identify the true cause.

Think back to what changed immediately before the problem:
- Adobe Animate was updated or reinstalled
- Creative Cloud was interrupted during an update
- An antivirus scan quarantined a file
- Animate was moved, cleaned, or removed manually
- Windows or a graphics driver was updated
- The error appears only with one project or one Windows user profile
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall Adobe Animate
This is the primary fix because the file belongs to Animate.

Before removing Animate, copy your .fla files and any related assets to another folder or drive. Do not assume an uninstall will preserve every custom workspace, extension, or project location.
Uninstall Animate from Creative Cloud
- Close Adobe Animate and other Adobe applications.
- Open the Creative Cloud desktop application.
- Select Apps.
- Select All Apps.
- Find Adobe Animate.
- Select the three-dot menu beside Animate.
- Choose Uninstall.
- If Creative Cloud asks whether to keep preferences, retain them initially unless you suspect damaged settings.
- Restart Windows after the uninstall finishes.
- Open Creative Cloud again.
- Find Adobe Animate and select Install.
Allow the installation to finish without closing Creative Cloud. Launch Animate from the Start menu after installation completes.
How to tell whether it worked
The repair succeeded if Animate opens without the missing-file message and you can create a blank document. If the original failure occurred during a WebGL-glTF workflow, test that workflow with a new document before reopening the affected project.

If Animate still reports the same DLL after a clean reinstall, do not copy a DLL into a Windows folder. Continue with the quarantine and installer checks below.

Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove or quarantine an application component. Restore it only when you can confirm that it came from the legitimate Adobe installation.
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent actions involving Adobe Animate or
gltfexporterplugin.dll. - Open the relevant entry and review its location and threat details.
- If the file clearly came from the installed Adobe Animate directory and the detection is a false positive, use Restore or Allow on device, if offered.
- Restart Windows.
- Start Animate and test a blank document.
If the location is unknown, the file came from a temporary folder, or the detection identifies a genuine threat, do not restore it. Remove the suspicious file and reinstall Animate through Creative Cloud instead. Add an antivirus exclusion only when you understand the security implications and have verified the Adobe installation.
Fix 3: Resolve a failed Creative Cloud installation
If Creative Cloud cannot install Animate, the missing DLL is a symptom of the installer problem.
Try these steps in order:
- Restart Windows.
- Make sure the system drive has free space.
- Close Animate, Creative Cloud, and other Adobe processes.
- Temporarily check whether antivirus or endpoint security is blocking the installer. Follow your organization’s security policy before changing protection settings.
- Open Creative Cloud and try the Animate installation again.
- If Creative Cloud itself behaves incorrectly, use Adobe’s Creative Cloud uninstaller and select its Repair option when available.
- Restart Windows after the repair.
- Reopen Creative Cloud and reinstall Animate.
- If the installer still fails, review the Creative Cloud installation logs and record the displayed error code.
An administrator account may be required, but running random DLL files or installers as administrator is not a repair method. Use administrator approval only for the official Creative Cloud installer.
Fix 4: Investigate a missing dependency
A Windows message saying “specified module could not be found” can mean that gltfexporterplugin.dll exists but another library required by it does not. This is why downloading the named DLL alone often changes nothing.

Check the following:
- Open Creative Cloud and confirm that Animate is installed for the current Windows account.
- In the Animate installation directory, search for
gltfexporterplugin.dll. - If the file is present, do not replace it immediately.
- Check whether the error appears only when opening a WebGL-glTF document or exporting GLB or GLTF.
- Confirm that your Animate release supports the installed Windows version and hardware architecture.
- If Adobe’s installer or diagnostic information identifies a Microsoft Visual C++ dependency, install the matching current Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable from Microsoft.
- Match the Redistributable architecture to the application. A 64-bit Animate installation generally needs the x64 runtime when that runtime is required.
- Restart Windows and test Animate again.
Do not install every Visual C++ package indiscriminately. Multiple Redistributable versions can coexist, and removing older packages may break unrelated applications. No authoritative source confirms a specific Visual C++ package for this particular Adobe DLL, so treat runtime installation as dependency troubleshooting, not the first-line cure.
Fix 5: Repair general Windows component corruption
Windows repair commands will not normally recreate an Adobe application DLL. They are useful when other programs also fail, Windows Update is damaged, or system components show broader corruption.
- Install all available Windows updates.
- Open Start and search for Terminal or Command Prompt.
- Right-click the result and select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run this command first:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for DISM to finish. Do not close the window if progress appears to pause.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until the scan reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test Adobe Animate.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, test Animate again. If it reports that some files could not be repaired, restart and run SFC once more. If Animate alone still has the error, return to the Creative Cloud reinstall rather than repeating Windows repairs indefinitely.
When manually comparing DISM and SFC results, it is easy to lose track of which component changed and whether the Adobe installation was ever repaired. It is optional, and reinstalling Adobe Animate remains the definitive fix for a missing Animate component.
Fix 6: Update the graphics driver only when Animate also crashes
A graphics driver is not the same thing as gltfexporterplugin.dll, and replacing a display driver will not normally restore a missing Adobe file. It is worth checking when Animate crashes during document creation, rendering, preview, or export, or when other graphics applications are failing too.
Check Device Manager
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the listed graphics adapter.
- Select Properties and review the General and Driver tabs.
- If Windows reports a device problem, note the error.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
- Open Animate and test a blank document.
If Device Manager finds nothing, obtain the driver from the graphics hardware manufacturer’s official support channel. Do not use a DLL download site as a driver source.
Finding the correct driver manually can mean identifying the exact adapter, Windows architecture, and supported package, then repeating the process for each stale device. System Restore is appropriate only when the problem began after a clear system or software change and a restore point exists from before the failure. It can revert system files, settings, and installed programs, but it does not normally remove personal documents.

- Press Windows + R.
- Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point dated before the Animate failure.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Review the changes.
- Select Next, then Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
- Test Animate.
If System Restore does not solve the problem, reinstall Animate through Creative Cloud. Do not use System Restore instead of preserving .fla projects.
Do not download or register this DLL
Avoid standalone copies of gltfexporterplugin.dll from unaffiliated download pages. A replacement may have the wrong version, architecture, dependencies, or digital provenance, and it may contain malicious code. It also leaves the damaged Adobe installation untouched.
Do not copy the file to System32, SysWOW64, or another application’s folder. Do not run regsvr32 gltfexporterplugin.dll. regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration-based components such as ActiveX or COM controls; there is no evidence that this Animate exporter plugin is such a component.

Should I copy it to System32?
No. This is an application component, not a Windows system library. Copying it to a system folder can create version conflicts and will not repair Animate’s installation records.
Should I run regsvr32?
