What is the Dark Odyssey collection?
Dark Odyssey is a black-and-gold set of cosmetic options for God of War Ragnarök. Santa Monica Studio said its look draws on God of War (2005)’s working title and a skin that appeared in God of War II as a reward for completing the game on God Mode difficulty. The studio announced the collection as a free update for all Ragnarök owners on PlayStation and PC, planned for March 20, 2025. Santa Monica Studio’s March 14, 2025 announcement listed these items:

- Kratos: Dark Odyssey appearance and armor pieces: Breastplate, Bracers and Belt.
- Atreus and Freya: Dark Odyssey Vestment for Atreus and Witch Frock for Freya.
- Weapons: Leviathan Axe appearance and Knob attachment; Blades of Chaos appearance and Handles attachment; Draupnir Spear appearance and Hind attachment.
- Shields: Guardian, Dauntless, Stone Wall, Shatter Star, Onslaught and Spartan Aspis appearances, plus a Dark Odyssey Rönd.
How to get the collection in Ragnarök
The studio said the collection would be accessible from any Lost Items chest in the base game, or automatically while playing Valhalla. It also specified an unlock condition for weapon appearances: they are designed for fully upgraded weapons and become available when each weapon reaches that upgrade.
An Edit Appearance feature was also announced for the new weapon attachments and shield Rönd. It lets players select their appearance separately from the functionality of their build.

What else was part of the anniversary?
The March 2025 celebration announcement covered downloadable fan items, an exhibition, and several planned merchandise collaborations. Their preorder and event dates below are historical announcement details, not confirmation that items remain available.
- Fan kit and avatars: Social media assets, banners, icons and desktop and mobile wallpapers were announced for March 14, 2025. Anniversary-themed Steam Points Shop items and a free PlayStation Network avatar were planned for March 20.
- Gallery Nucleus exhibition: A Los Angeles exhibition featuring new art, concept art and memorabilia was announced for March 15–23, 2025.
- Retrospective book: A two-volume God of War: 20th Anniversary Retrospective, with developer interviews, stories, insights and art, was announced with preorders planned for March 17.
- Cook and Becker prints: Preorders for a new art-print collection were planned for March 18, beginning with works focused on God of War (2005) and God of War (2018).
- Fangamer plush: A Jörmungandr plush was announced for preorder March 19. Santa Monica Studio described it as 67 inches long, with a hidden puppet sleeve and a magnetized tongue that holds a small Leviathan Axe.
- Laced Records vinyl: A limited-edition 13-disc collection spanning God of War (2005) through Ragnarök: Valhalla (2023) was announced for preorder March 20, along with double LP sets for God of War (2005), God of War II and God of War III.
- Insert Coin apparel: A T-shirt collection covering the nine games released during the series’ first 20 years was announced for preorder March 21.
The announcement also described PlayStation Plus catalog inclusion and PC sales as they stood in March 2025. Catalog lineups can vary by region, and those historical listings and offers should not be taken as current availability.

What is the 20th anniversary DualSense controller?
Sony announced a limited-edition DualSense wireless controller inspired by Kratos’ ash-gray skin and red tattoo on September 24, 2025. The announcement set preorders for October 3 and launch for October 23, 2025, in limited quantities, with availability subject to country or region. Its recommended retail prices at announcement were $84.99, €84.99, £74.99 and ¥12,480; those are not verified current prices or stock levels.
