What was Gran Saga: Unlimited?
NPIXEL described Gran Saga: Unlimited as a PC MMORPG based on its Gran Saga title. The planned game was to combine familiar multiplayer role-playing features with blockchain-related elements, with distribution through METAPIXEL, NPIXEL’s web3 gaming ecosystem built on Aptos. These were announcement-era plans; the available sources do not verify that the proposed features reached a public release.
Announced gameplay
NPIXEL’s 2023 release outlined player classes, cooperative dungeons, field bosses, clans, an open world, and a competitive mode called “Chaos Field.” It also referred to a “Proof of Play” concept. The release described intended features, not a confirmed final feature set.
Was it really the first game on Aptos?
NPIXEL positioned Gran Saga: Unlimited as the first game for the METAPIXEL ecosystem, and the game was presented in connection with Aptos. That is historical project framing, not evidence that it was Aptos’s first game overall or that it remains first by any current measure. NPIXEL’s official news archive lists a teaser announcement dated January 3, 2023; its 2023 release distributed by GAMEPLEX provides the game and ecosystem details.

What did Aptos and METAPIXEL have to do with it?
The announced plan put the game in METAPIXEL, an ecosystem built on Aptos. Aptos Labs described the broader NPIXEL and METAPIXEL effort in terms of player ownership of game assets and a free-to-own model. Those were stated goals in a partnership article, not proof that ownership features were implemented in Gran Saga: Unlimited or that players received particular assets. What happened to Gran Saga: Unlimited?
The project’s present status is not settled by the available official evidence. METAPIXEL’s website currently displays the messages “Thank you for being a part of this journey” and “Farewell, and may our paths cross again in the future.” That is a farewell message on the site, but it is not a dated shutdown notice or an explicit formal cancellation announcement. Did the game launch in 2023?
METAPIXEL’s brand site stated a planned 2023 launch, but a target date is not confirmation that a launch occurred. The detailed NPIXEL release reported that the second community test concluded on July 20, 2023; it did not establish a subsequent public launch or current service status. Around 8,000 participants took part in that test, according to the company-reported figure in the release, not an independently audited count.

The consulted official material does not confirm whether the game can currently be played, remains in service, or was formally cancelled. The farewell message alone cannot answer that question. NPIXEL’s news archive and the METAPIXEL site are the relevant official sources to check for a direct status notice.
