Official materials do not establish that it was GT7’s biggest update: they offer no comparison, ranking, or size metric to support that claim.
What’s new in Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.49?
The update combines new cars and track content with World Circuits events, presentation changes, and adjustments to vehicle physics. The official patch notes are dated July 25, 2024; the preceding announcements described the planned release. Gran Turismo’s Update Details (1.49) lists the implemented changes.

- Six cars were added to the game.
- Eiger Nordwand arrived in its regular and reverse layouts.
- Michelin designs were added to tires, with exceptions for certain vehicles.
- New World Circuits events, an Extra Menu, and the Pokal wheel brand were added.
- Gran Turismo Sophy became available on additional track layouts; the patch notes specify PlayStation 5 only.
- The update adjusted vehicle physics, including suspension, steering, and tire simulation, alongside bug fixes and other adjustments.
Which cars were added?
Update 1.49 added these six cars. The official notes specify the dealership location for the BMW and Subaru; they do not list prices here.

How do you unlock Eiger Nordwand?
Eiger Nordwand unlocks at Collector Level 25 and includes two layouts: Eiger Nordwand and Eiger Nordwand Reverse. The July 24 announcement describes the circuit as a technical course near Kleine Scheidegg in the Swiss Alps, with elevation changes, tight hairpins, and a pit area in a tunnel. Those are the announcement’s descriptions of the track. PlayStation Blog’s update announcement gives that overview.

What events and other content were added?
The final patch notes list the following new World Circuits events and venues:
- European Sunday Cup 500 — Eiger Nordwand
- Jimny Cup — Eiger Nordwand
- World Rally Challenge Gr.B — Eiger Nordwand
- Ferrari Circuit Challenge — Autodromo Nazionale Monza
- World Touring Car 600 — Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta
The July 24 announcement differed on the venue for World Rally Challenge Gr.B. The list above follows the final July 25 patch notes. Other additions include Extra Menu No. 40: McLaren, available to players at Collector Level 50 or above; the Pokal wheel brand; and Eiger content in Scapes. Michelin designs appear on tires sold in the Tuning Shop and on standard tires fitted to cars, with some vehicle exceptions.

Did Update 1.49 change the physics?
Yes. The official description says the update introduced a new suspension physics model and refined tire calculations. The stated aim was more natural weight transfer in corners and more realistic tire response, heating, and wear. The patch notes also describe enhancements and adjustments to the tire physics simulation, steering, and suspension.
These are the developers’ descriptions of design changes, not independent measurements proving that the simulation became more realistic. The announcements characterize the physics work as a major update, but do not supply a quantified comparison of handling accuracy before and after. Was Update 1.49 really the biggest GT7 update?
That is not established by the official materials. They document six new cars, two track layouts, events, physics work, and other additions, but do not compare Update 1.49 with earlier GT7 updates or provide a file-size or change-count ranking. Six cars is a supported feature count, not proof of a record. “Biggest yet” is therefore an editorial characterization, not a verified fact.
What do you need to install or use the update?
Gran Turismo 7 and an internet connection are required, according to the official patch notes. The Sophy availability change listed in those notes applies to PlayStation 5 only.
