Grand Theft Auto VI has not been delayed again. Rockstar’s announced release date remains November 19, 2026, and Take-Two reaffirmed it on August 7. The latest delay talk comes from former Rockstar animator Mike York, who said he would not be surprised if the game slipped again; the report does not establish that he has current inside information or that a delay has been decided.
Is GTA 6 delayed again?
No. Rockstar’s latest announced date is November 19, 2026. The company set that date in a November 6, 2025 announcement, saying the additional time would let the team finish the game to the level of polish players expect. Take-Two reiterated the date on August 7, 2026. Rockstar’s release-date announcement and GameSpot’s account of Take-Two’s briefing are the latest cited statements here; neither announces a new delay.
That is the announced schedule, not a guarantee that the date cannot change. As of October 8, 2026, November 19 remains the official target.
Who said GTA 6 could be delayed again?
Mike York, a former Rockstar animator who worked on Grand Theft Auto V and left the company in 2017. In an interview with Indy100, reported by GameSpot on August 6, York said he would not be shocked if Rockstar delayed GTA 6 again. He suggested a further six months was possible if the team needed more time. GameSpot’s report presents this as York’s view based on his past experience—not as a statement from Rockstar or a report of a decision by the current development team.

The word “leaker” in the headline overstates what the report establishes. York is a former developer offering a prediction; the cited coverage does not identify him as a source with current production information.
When is GTA 6 coming out?
Grand Theft Auto VI is announced for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two’s August 7 reaffirmation linked the expected launch to its fiscal 2027 outlook. CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company was reiterating its fiscal 2027 net bookings outlook of $8 billion to $8.2 billion in connection with the anticipated November launch. That business outlook is context for Take-Two’s statement, not evidence that the release date is guaranteed.

What buyers should know about editions and formats
Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement listed Standard and Ultimate editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and said pre-orders would begin June 25. Its announced prices were $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate. Treat these as prices announced on that date and check the current retailer listing before buying.
Rockstar Support’s page, last updated August 18, 2026, says physical copies are boxes containing a download code rather than a disc. It listed retailer shipping or pickup from November 12, with code redemption for preloading from that date. The same support page says code-region rules depend on platform and country; Rockstar recommends purchasing from a retailer in the country associated with your platform account to avoid activation problems.
