Sulyok recalled that the store began with about 26 publishers: “We started out with about 26 different publishers. Very kind and very trusting publishers for a new site. Then we built it up over time.” The number is his recollection in the 2024 interview.
What does “14-year overnight success” mean?
It is Sulyok’s wry description of GMG’s extended growth. GamesBeat published the interview on 25 March 2024 and updated it on 18 June 2025; the company’s own recap appeared on 3 June 2024. In that 2024 framing, the business had been operating for about 14 years. The founder biography dates Sulyok’s founding of GMG to 2009, so “overnight” is not a claim of immediate success.
