When can I pre-load GTA 6?
Pre-loading is scheduled to begin at local midnight on November 12, 2026, seven days before the November 19 launch. The PlayStation Store labels the window “7-Day Pre-load.” The exact menu wording and regional display can differ between consoles, but both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are listed for the same pre-load process.
Digital purchases
Digital buyers should see a pre-load option in the console library or on the store page after the window opens. How much storage will GTA 6 need?

Why the console can ask for more space than the download
Consoles may need temporary working room while they unpack, verify and install a download. A later update can require additional free space even when the installed game itself fits. Keep a substantial buffer rather than aiming to match the displayed package size exactly; the appropriate buffer cannot be calculated responsibly until the storefront shows the real requirements.

PS5 storage choices
On PS5, a compatible M.2 NVMe SSD can expand playable storage. USB extended storage can archive PS5 games and move them back later, but it does not replace the internal drive or a compatible M.2 drive for playing a PS5 title. If your internal drive is nearly full, move or delete games you can re-download, then check the free-space display again before starting the preload.
Xbox Series X|S storage
Keep the installation target on storage that the Xbox console permits for playing current-generation titles. The launch material does not specify a GTA VI size or a special Xbox storage requirement, so verify the free-space warning and the console’s current storage guidance when the download becomes available.
Does the physical GTA 6 copy come with a disc?
No. Rockstar’s physical Standard Edition contains a download code and explicitly states that a disc will not be included. You still need to redeem the code, download the complete game and retain enough playable storage. Physical packaging is useful for ownership and retail distribution, but it is not an offline installation method.

What are the GTA 6 editions and launch prices?
Rockstar lists Standard and Ultimate Editions. The PlayStation Store listing reviewed for 2026 shows the PS5 Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. Those are PlayStation Store prices for that listing and year; Xbox pricing and regional taxes or currency conversions must be checked on the relevant Xbox storefront.

If no update appears
No update entry does not prove that the files are final or that online services are ready. Start the game only after the console reports that installation is complete, and look for an official product or support notice if the launch screen displays a new requirement.
Can I play GTA 6 on PS4, Xbox One or PC?

- Open the download queue before launching Grand Theft Auto VI.
