If you want to play Grand Theft Auto VI at its announced launch, choose a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has announced those console platforms for November 19, 2026, but has not announced a PC version or date in the official platform information reviewed. If PC is essential to you, waiting is the only option—but there is no confirmed timeline to plan around.
GTA 6 platforms: what is confirmed
Rockstar lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as launch platforms. PlayStation’s product page also names PS5 Pro. The announced release date is November 19, 2026; because it is a future date, it could change. Rockstar describes the game as single-player, so do not assume GTA Online is included with the announced launch game.
PC is not listed in the official platform materials reviewed, and no PC requirements or release date have been confirmed there. That means “PC has not been announced,” not that a PC version will never exist. Rockstar’s platform information is available at Rockstar’s GTA VI page, with console listings at PlayStation and Xbox.

How to choose between PS5 and Xbox
Start with the system you already own
If you already have a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, that is the most straightforward choice: both are announced platforms. Consider your existing account, friends, and preferred platform ecosystem rather than buying a second console based on unverified performance claims.

Consider the listed PlayStation features
PlayStation’s product page describes Tempest 3D audio and DualSense speaker and haptic features. These are platform-specific features named by PlayStation, not proof that PS5 has a higher frame rate, sharper image, or better overall performance than Xbox.
Do not read promotional wording as a benchmark
Rockstar’s official page uses the phrase “Plays best on PlayStation 5.” Treat that as promotional wording, not an independent head-to-head test. The official pages reviewed do not establish a console performance winner; there are no matched-condition frame-rate or resolution comparisons to use for this decision.

Should you wait for GTA 6 on PC?
Wait if PC is a firm requirement and you are comfortable with uncertainty. There is no announced PC date to compare with the console launch, and no official PC requirements to tell you whether your current computer would run the game. Do not buy or upgrade a PC on the assumption that GTA VI will arrive by a particular year.
Choose a console if playing on the announced November 19, 2026 date matters more than using PC. Recheck Rockstar’s platform listing before making a purchase, especially if the release date or platform lineup changes.

Prices, editions, and what is in the box
Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 US announcement listed Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99; PlayStation’s US product page shows those prices as well. These are US prices, not a guarantee of the price in other markets, and store listings can change. Check the relevant local storefront before buying. Rockstar Support lists Standard and Ultimate editions and says Standard owners can buy a digital Ultimate Edition upgrade after redeeming their Standard code. A physical boxed Standard copy contains a download code, not a disc. Rockstar says physical availability is expected from November 12 to support preload; check current local retailer and support information because availability can vary.

Rockstar’s support guidance says PlayStation code redemption is tied to the region of the platform account and recommends buying from a retailer in the account’s country to avoid activation issues. The same article describes Xbox codes as not region-locked. Check the current instructions for your market before purchasing a code.

Digital pre-orders made before November 20, 2026 are described as including the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+, subject to the offer terms. PlayStation’s listing says the GTA+ month can continue as a paid subscription unless canceled and sets out eligibility and redemption limits. Read the applicable store terms; a one-month offer is not a permanently free subscription. Rockstar Support’s pre-order information and the PlayStation product page provide the offer details.

For a confirmed launch option, choose PS5 or Xbox Series X|S based on the system you own and prefer. Choose PC only if you are prepared to wait without an official release date or hardware requirements. No evidence in the official materials reviewed settles a PS5-versus-Xbox performance winner.
