Grand Theft Auto VI’s announced US price is $79.99 for Standard Edition and $99.99 for Ultimate Edition. The earlier European retailer listings that sparked the “price leak” were speculative placeholders, not confirmed Rockstar prices. The game is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a November 19, 2026 launch.
Was the GTA 6 price leak real?
No. GamesRadar reported that French retailer Fnac had listed five GTA VI product placeholders at €89.99, €99.99, €109.99, €119.99 and €199.99. Those listings did not establish Rockstar’s price: at the time, neither Rockstar nor Take-Two had formally announced one. Take-Two later announced official US prices of $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate on June 24, 2026. The euro placeholders should not be converted directly into US prices, since regional pricing and taxes differ. GamesRadar’s report on the Fnac listings describes them as placeholders; Take-Two’s announcement provides the later confirmed US pricing.

How much will GTA 6 cost?
Take-Two’s announced US prices are $79.99 for Standard Edition and $99.99 for Ultimate Edition. These are US prices, not a global price list; the available announcement does not establish a complete international MSRP comparison.

Ultimate is $20 more than Standard in the US announcement. The extra content is not required to access the core game: Rockstar Support says Standard owners can purchase a digital Ultimate Edition upgrade separately after redeeming their game code. See Rockstar Support’s edition and bonus details.

Does GTA 6 really cost $100?
Only the announced US Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99. Standard is $79.99. The $99.99 figure is not the price of every edition, and it is distinct from the earlier €99.99 Fnac placeholder, which was not an official price.
Does the physical GTA 6 copy include a disc?
No. Rockstar says the boxed version contains a download code inside the box and explicitly states that it does not include a disc. “Physical” therefore describes the boxed packaging, not a disc you can install or play from. Rockstar also says Ultimate Edition is not available as a physical version. Check the format before buying if you specifically need a disc.

Digital and boxed Standard: what differs?
Both formats provide access to the game, but the boxed version supplies a code rather than a disc. Rockstar’s support documentation also addresses preload access and regional compatibility; check the retailer’s listing and Rockstar’s current terms for the specific platform and purchase region rather than assuming a box means disc-based installation.
Check region compatibility before buying a code
For PlayStation, Rockstar says codes are tied to the region of the platform account and recommends buying from a retailer in the country where that account is registered to avoid activation problems. Rockstar says Xbox codes are not region-locked. The full guidance is on Rockstar Support.

Will GTA 6 make other games more expensive?
That remains uncertain. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick defended the price after the company’s Q1 FY27 report, saying, “Our goal is to deliver way more value to consumers than what we charge them” and “Pricing has not kept pace with inflation.” He also called GTA VI “an incredible bargain as experiences go,” arguing that Rockstar is known for overdelivering. Those remarks explain the company’s position; they do not independently establish the game’s value. TechRadar reported Zelnick’s comments.
There are also voices hoping GTA VI will give publishers cover to charge more. Kingdom Come: Deliverance co-founder Daniel Vávra Klima said, “Now, hopefully, GTA will blaze the trail, and it will allow us to increase the cost.” Bank of America analyst Omar Dessouky has also called for a higher price, according to PC Gamer. What preorder bonuses were announced?
Take-Two’s announcement listed a Vintage Vice City Pack for purchases made before November 20, 2026; digital preorders were also listed with a free month of GTA+. These are time-limited offers, so confirm current eligibility, dates and terms with the retailer or Rockstar before ordering. The game’s announced launch date is November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
