What is confirmed about the GTA 6 review window?
Insider Gaming reported on October 14, 2026 that “Grand Theft Auto 6’s review estate will go live before the release on November 19.” That is the clearest current answer to the question of when reviews will arrive: a pre-launch review window is planned, rather than reviews being held until launch day.

The same report says Insider Gaming learned the preliminary embargo but will not publish it because the timing is subject to change before release. A preliminary embargo is not a final public schedule. Until Rockstar, Take-Two, or an authorized outlet confirms the details, there is no reliable basis for naming a calendar date, publication hour, or time zone.

When will GTA 6 Metacritic scores go live?
Metacritic’s first scores normally depend on when eligible critics are allowed to publish and when the site has enough qualifying reviews to calculate an aggregate. Because the embargo date and time have not been announced, the launch of a GTA 6 Metascore cannot be pinned to November 12, November 18, launch day, or any specific hour. The aggregate could begin appearing as individual reviews are published, but its exact timing is likewise unconfirmed.

Why the pre-load date does not reveal the embargo
Rockstar lists November 12 as the start of pre-loading, seven days before release. Pre-loading lets buyers download game files ahead of launch; it does not grant permission to publish reviews. Review copies, access conditions, and embargo rules are controlled separately, so the pre-load date should not be treated as a signal that reviews will arrive that day.
Could reviews appear on November 18?
November 18 is sometimes suggested as a possible date because publishers often schedule reviews shortly before launch. That would be an inference, not an announcement. The available reporting confirms only that the review estate will go live before November 19 and that the preliminary date may change. A specific November 18 embargo should therefore be treated as speculation until an official notice or final outlet briefing confirms it.

- Watch for a final embargo notice. A named date and time from Rockstar, Take-Two, or a clearly identified review outlet is stronger evidence than forum posts or retailer countdowns.
- Check the time zone. Even after a date is announced, outlets may publish at a stated local time or simultaneously worldwide.
- Distinguish review types. A hands-on preview, technical test, or impressions article is not necessarily the unrestricted full review covered by the final embargo.
- Expect score coverage to develop. Metacritic and similar aggregators may update as qualifying reviews go live, so an early score can change as more publications are added.
