Do not assume that a code copied from a guide for the original 2002 release will work in this version. Multiple classic cheats and extras were removed or disabled. A current list may therefore omit a familiar entry intentionally rather than because the publisher changed its spelling.
Use a cheat list specifically labeled for the Definitive Edition and for your controller. A code written with PlayStation symbols is not automatically a usable Switch sequence, even when the underlying cheat is the same. - Load the Definitive Edition and select the save on which you are willing to use cheats.
- Wait until you have control of the character in the game world. Do not pause, remain in a cutscene, or enter the sequence during a mission transition.

The sequence was interrupted
Opening a menu, switching applications or losing controller focus can break a sequence. Start over from the first input in ordinary gameplay rather than continuing from the point where the interruption occurred.
