Not confirmed yet. Bandai Namco announced Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 3 (GBO3) on October 28, 2026, but the checked announcement does not say whether it will be free-to-play or what players could buy. The “Free to play” wording on the official site describes GBO2, not GBO3. The 30-token celebration offers currently visible after the announcement are also GBO2 events, so they are not GBO3 prices or a preview of its store. No specific GBO3 release date has been announced.
Is Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 3 free-to-play?
Bandai Namco has not confirmed GBO3’s business model in the official announcement currently available. The publisher identifies GBO3 as the newest entry in the Battle Operation series, but gives no free-to-play label, buy-to-play price, subscription requirement, or purchase terms for it. The announcement is dated October 28, 2026, and the status described here was checked against the publisher’s material on October 30, 2026. Read the announcement.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. The same missing information also means there is no basis to promise a free download. Until Bandai Namco publishes a GBO3 product page, platform listing, or monetization statement, “free-to-play” remains unconfirmed.
What the announcement actually confirms
- GBO3 is an announced Battle Operation sequel and the latest series entry.
- The announcement does not provide a specific release date.
- Bandai Namco says it does not plan to operate GBO2 and GBO3 in parallel.
That final point is a plan about operating the two games, not a dated shutdown notice. It does not say when GBO2 service will end, whether the games will overlap during a transition, or what happens to accounts and paid entitlements.

What do GBO3 purchases include?
No GBO3 purchase catalog has been disclosed in the checked official material. There is therefore no sourced answer for whether players will be able to buy tokens, mobile suits, cosmetic items, battle passes, editions, starter packs, or access to the game itself.
| Purchase question | GBO3 status as of October 30, 2026 | What is safe to say |
|---|---|---|
| Is the game free to download? | Not stated | Do not assume either free access or an upfront price. |
| Are paid tokens or another currency planned? | Not stated | No GBO3 currency name, exchange rate, or bundle has been announced. |
| Can players buy mobile suits? | Not stated | No GBO3 vehicle, unlock, or purchase list is available. |
| Are cosmetics, battle passes, or special editions offered? | Not stated | No such products are confirmed. |
| Will GBO2 items transfer? | Not explained | The announcement supplies no account, currency, or item-transfer rules. |
These omissions matter because “free-to-play” can describe several different arrangements. A game may be free to install while selling optional items, or it may require an upfront purchase and sell additional content. The publisher has not identified which, if any, arrangement applies to GBO3, so treating GBO2’s systems as a specification would turn an example into an unsupported claim.
Are the 30-token announcement-celebration drops for GBO3?
No. The offers connected to the GBO3 announcement are explicitly GBO2 campaigns. One notice describes an announcement-celebration campaign held in GBO2, including login rewards. A separate Guaranteed MS Boosted Supply Drop notice sets out four steps, each costing 30 tokens. Those are GBO2 event terms, not GBO3 purchases. See the celebration notice and the Supply Drop terms.

| Step | Token cost | Reward description in the notice | Applies to |
|---|---|---|---|
| STEP1 | 30 tokens | Guaranteed mobile-suit reward category specified by the event notice | GBO2 |
| STEP2 | 30 tokens | Guaranteed mobile-suit reward category specified by the event notice | GBO2 |
| STEP3 | 30 tokens | Guaranteed mobile-suit reward category specified by the event notice | GBO2 |
| STEP4 | 30 tokens | Guaranteed mobile-suit reward category specified by the event notice | GBO2 |
The figure is therefore 30 tokens per step across four steps in a time-limited GBO2 Supply Drop. It does not establish a GBO3 token price, a four-step structure for GBO3, or the value of any future GBO3 item. Likewise, the login bonuses are rewards for logging in to GBO2; they are not benefits bundled with a GBO3 purchase.
What is the difference between GBO2’s current store information and GBO3’s status?
The official site presents information for two different games. Keeping their scopes separate prevents the announcement campaign from being mistaken for a launch offer.
| Point | GBO2 | GBO3 |
|---|---|---|
| Official status | Existing Battle Operation title with an official “Free to play” label on its site | Announced latest series entry |
| Current purchase information | GBO2 token-based Supply Drop and login campaigns are documented | No GBO3 purchase catalog documented |
| 30-token steps | Four 30-token steps in the announced GBO2 event | Not a GBO3 price or feature |
| Release timing | Operating service | No specific release date in the cited announcement |
| Relationship going forward | Bandai Namco says it does not plan to operate both games in parallel | Transition details are not supplied |
The “Free to play” label can be verified on the official Battle Operation site, but its surrounding page is for GBO2. It should not be read as a GBO3 announcement.

What does “we do not plan to operate GBO2 and GBO3 in parallel” mean?
Bandai Namco’s exact wording is: “Additionally, we do not plan to operate ‘GBO2’ and ‘GBO3’ in parallel.” The statement appears in the October 28, 2026 schedule announcement. It indicates an intended non-overlapping service plan, but it is not a calendar date or a shutdown procedure.
The publisher does not say when GBO2 will stop, whether a handover period will exist, or whether GBO2 accounts, tokens, mobile suits, ranks, cosmetic items, or other purchases will carry into GBO3. Players should not spend GBO2 currency on the assumption that it will acquire GBO3 value. Any transfer policy would need its own official terms.
How should you evaluate a future GBO3 purchase page?
When Bandai Namco publishes concrete product information, check the details in this order rather than relying on a headline or a store thumbnail:

- Confirm the game and region. Make sure the page names GBO3, not GBO2, and that its storefront country matches your account. A campaign title mentioning GBO3 may still describe rewards inside GBO2, as the current celebration notices do.
- Identify the access model. Look for an explicit free-to-play statement, an upfront price, a subscription condition, or a platform-specific requirement. If none appears, the purchase model is still unclear.
- Read the entitlement list. Separate permanent access from consumables, currency, mobile suits, cosmetics, boosts, and time-limited bonuses. “Includes in-game items” is not enough to determine what those items are.
- Check optionality and gameplay impact. Determine whether an item is cosmetic, accelerates progression, changes combat capability, or is required to play. Do not infer this from GBO2 terminology.
- Check platforms and editions. Record the platform, edition name, release region, preorder window, and whether the offer is a one-time purchase or recurring payment.
- Look for account and transfer rules. A new game announcement does not automatically preserve old currencies or inventories. Read the service terms for any migration, expiration, or platform-linking conditions.
- Use the date on the offer. Event rewards and token campaigns can expire. Keep the announcement date and the offer’s own validity period together when comparing options.
Could GBO3 be free-to-play even though the publisher has not said so?
It could eventually use that model, but the checked sources do not establish it. The existence of a free-to-play predecessor is not proof that a sequel will use identical access or monetization rules. GBO3 may have different platforms, currencies, editions, or progression systems; none of those details are currently published.
The most reliable signal will be an official GBO3 product description or platform listing that states access and pricing directly. Until then, avoid treating community assumptions, screenshots of GBO2 menus, or the 30-token event as evidence about GBO3.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When will GBO3’s price and purchase contents be known?
No date is given for a full GBO3 product reveal. The October 28 announcement supplies neither a specific release date nor a timetable for publishing store details. Because the publisher has announced a non-parallel operating plan without explaining the transition, later updates will need to clarify launch timing, GBO2 service changes, platform availability, and entitlement handling.

For a current answer, use Bandai Namco’s official Battle Operation announcements and distinguish each notice’s game name before relying on a price or reward. The status can change as regional storefront pages and game-specific announcements appear, so a statement that GBO3 is free or that a particular bundle is included should carry the date and region of the official listing.
What can you safely conclude right now?
- GBO3 is a real, newly announced game, announced by Bandai Namco on October 28, 2026.
- Its free-to-play status is unconfirmed in the cited official material.
- No GBO3 purchase contents, token price, edition, battle pass, mobile-suit catalog, or transfer policy has been announced there.
- GBO2 is the game identified as free-to-play on the official site, and the current 30-token celebration Supply Drops belong to GBO2.
- There is no specific GBO3 release date in the announcement, and the publisher says it does not plan to operate GBO2 and GBO3 in parallel.
