Yes. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is already available: it launched on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on April 22, 2025, then arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 11, 2026. Bethesda calls it a remaster, not a new sequel.
When did Oblivion Remastered launch?
The original release was April 22, 2025. Bethesda announced it as available that day on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with Game Pass availability. Game Pass availability was announced for the April 2025 launch. Xbox Play Anywhere is specifically an Xbox Wire description; it should not be read as a cross-entitlement feature for PlayStation or Switch 2.

Bethesda lists a digital Standard Edition and both digital and physical Deluxe Editions for Switch 2. The physical Deluxe Edition includes a cartridge containing the full base game. Bethesda announced these edition details on June 30, 2026, in its Switch 2 edition announcement.

How does the Switch 2 version run?
Bethesda lists performance targets of 900p at 30 FPS in handheld mode and 1080p at 30 FPS when docked. These are the targets stated on its Switch 2 page, not a guarantee that every scene holds those figures.
The version also lists touchscreen support, HD Rumble, gyro aiming, Joy-Con 2 mouse mode and motion controls, DLSS anti-aliasing, performance optimizations, and GameChat. Bethesda lists English full audio and text, with text support for French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, and Simplified Chinese.

What does the remaster change?
Bethesda describes a refreshed presentation and gameplay refinements to the 2006 role-playing game, made with Virtuos. The visual update uses Unreal Engine 5 and includes improved character models and lip syncing, plus atmospheric effects. The Switch 2 overview also lists sprinting, recreated combat animations and effects, a reworked third-person perspective, a redesigned leveling system drawing on both Oblivion and Skyrim, UI and UX updates, and newly recorded dialogue. Xbox Wire describes the project as preserving the original game’s core while updating its visuals and quality of life. Is it a remake or a remaster?
The official product name is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and Bethesda and Xbox describe it as a remaster. The updated graphics and revised systems modernize the original game, but it remains an updated version of that 2006 title rather than a new installment in the series.
Is Oblivion Remastered still getting updates?
Bethesda’s Switch 2 page lists Patch 1.1, dated September 17, 2026, as addressing multiple crashes and gameplay issues. That is the latest patch information established here; later updates, if any, are not confirmed.
