Hasbro announced a new Wizards of the Coast game-development hub in downtown Montréal on September 30, 2025. The company said the hub would develop new Dungeons & Dragons content and support its digital-games portfolio, with an official opening expected in summer 2026. The available announcements do not confirm whether it opened by October 8, 2026.
What Hasbro announced
The new hub was described as operating as Wizards of the Coast Studios Inc. It was planned to work alongside Wizards’ existing Montréal video-game team, Invoke Studios, rather than replace it. Hasbro’s announcement did not identify a specific game in development at the new hub. Hasbro’s September 30, 2025 announcement set out the studio’s planned remit.
What the Montréal hub was expected to work on
Wizards said the team would create new Dungeons & Dragons content and support the company’s growing digital-games portfolio. That describes a broad development mandate, not a confirmed title, release date, or announcement of a new D&D game.
How it relates to Invoke Studios
The new hub was planned next to Invoke Studios in downtown Montréal. Invoke was already Wizards of the Coast’s Montréal-based video-game team; the announcement described the new studio as operating alongside it. Investissement Québec International also reported the planned location and timing in its English-language announcement.

Who was named to lead the effort
Hasbro named Dan Ayoub to lead the initiative, describing him as an industry veteran and Concordia University graduate. In the September 30, 2025 announcement, Ayoub said: “It feels incredible to return to the city where my career began in 1999, back when the gaming industry was just taking off.”
What was announced about jobs and opening timing
Hasbro projected about 200 jobs over the following three years. That is a hiring forecast from the 2025 announcement, not a verified current headcount or confirmation that all those positions were filled. Investissement Québec’s French-language announcement independently reported the projected jobs and planned expansion.

The company expected the site to officially open in summer 2026. That was a forecast, and the cited announcements do not establish whether the opening took place by October 8, 2026. Hasbro Careers listings describing a Wizards studio building a Montréal team identify it as Skeleton Key; those listings do not establish that Skeleton Key is the announced Wizards of the Coast Studios Inc. hub or confirm that hub’s operating status.

Investissement Québec International’s announcement said Québec had more than 250 game studios and 15,000 highly skilled professionals in its gaming ecosystem. Those are the economic-development organization’s 2025 figures, not a count of staff or studios connected to Hasbro’s new hub.
