Mods that affect other players

Arrowhead’s enforcement concern is software that creates an unfair advantage or changes another player’s experience. The studio says those mods may be blocked or rendered unusable after the EAC transition.

Cosmetic and non-gameplay mods

Arrowhead says it appreciates cosmetic and other non-gameplay modifications when they do not negatively affect other players. That is not a compatibility guarantee: a harmless mod can still require an update if EAC or the additional security checks detect its files.

How do I fix Helldivers 2 crashing after the EAC switch?

Arrowhead’s October 27 support update treats leftover modification files as a possible launch-crash cause, even when a mod manager reports that a mod was uninstalled. Follow the cleanup in this order:

1. Purge every Helldivers 2 mod file. Check for files left behind by a mod manager, not just the manager’s uninstall entry.
2. Remove ReShade and OptiScaler DLLs. In the game’s bin directory, delete dxgi.dll, d3d9.dll, d3d11.dll, reshade32.dll and reshade64.dll if they are present.
3. Clear Arrowhead’s local data. Delete the Helldivers2 folder under %appdata%Arrowhead.
4. Remove GameGuard remnants. Open the game’s EasyAntiCheat folder and run GGuninst.exe. Then delete any remaining GameGuard folder in the game’s bin directory.
5. Update drivers and Windows. Install pending graphics-driver and operating-system updates before trying another launch.
6. Restart Windows. Use Restart, not Shut down, so the system performs a full reboot.
7. Verify the Steam installation. In Steam, open the game’s Properties, choose Installed Files, then select Verify integrity of game files.
8. Send a dump if support requests one. If a crash-report handler asks for a memory dump and the problem continues, submit a Player Support ticket with that dump attached.
