To complete Helldivers 2’s historical Deploy Dark Fluid mission, carry a Dark Fluid Vessel to each of three marked payload sites, load it into the Tectonic Drill, and defend the drill while it deploys. Complete all three sites, then extract.
How to complete the Deploy Dark Fluid objective
- Call in the Dark Fluid Vessel. Use the Dark Fluid Vessel stratagem, then collect the vessel.
- Carry it to a payload site. Follow the mission marker to one of the designated sites.
- Call down the Tectonic Drill. Once it arrives, insert the vessel into the drill.
- Defend the drill. Hold the area while the Dark Fluid deploys. The mission reference reports that this defense triggers bug breaches.
- Repeat at the other sites. The objective requires completing three payload sites.
- Extract. Once all three sites are complete, proceed to extraction.
Handling breaches and the post-objective threat
The mission reference reports a brief tremor after an objective is completed, followed by Shriekers that continue to spawn. Be ready for threats after finishing a site rather than assuming the area is safe.

Optional actions while defending
- Close nearby bug holes if the squad has time; the mission reference recommends this to reduce the steady flow of enemies.
- Destroy Spore Spewers to improve visibility, another suggestion from the mission reference.
These are reported mission suggestions, not a tested loadout or guarantee that a particular tactic will make the defense easier.
What the Dark Fluid mission was about
Deploy Dark Fluid was part of the historical Operation Enduring Peace on Meridia. Its objective was to inject Dark Fluid into the planet’s crust to destroy the Terminid Supercolony. Xbox Wire’s 2025 retrospective says the substance destabilized Meridia, causing the planet to collapse into the Meridian Singularity: Xbox Wire’s anniversary retrospective.

Can you play the mission now?
The sources documenting the objective and campaign explain how the mission worked historically, but do not establish whether Deploy Dark Fluid is replayable in the current game build. Treat it as a historical Meridia mission, not a confirmed currently available activity.
