Helldivers 2 Players Say the Latest Patch Is Damaging the Game—What’s Confirmed

Some players criticized Helldivers 2’s September 22, 2026 update, but the available discussion is anecdotal. Arrowhead’s October 7 issue list confirms specific problems without establishing the patch’s overall effect.

Some Helldivers 2 players criticized the September 22, 2026 update, 7.1.0, but the available evidence does not establish that it broadly damaged the game. Arrowhead’s October 7 known-issues list confirms several specific problems, while a community discussion records mixed individual reactions—not a representative measure of player sentiment.

What Arrowhead’s current issue list confirms

Arrowhead Game Studios’ Player Support Team displayed an October 7, 2026 update to its HELLDIVERS 2 Known Issues page. It says: “This list contains the most common issues reported by players or found in QA.” The same page says the list is not exhaustive.

  • A Helldiver may die after landing on an Automaton fabricator when the player has high latency.
  • The AR-59 Suppressor’s short-magazine buff did not take effect, leaving it at pre-patch values.
  • The Lumberer’s flamethrower may not apply damage correctly.
  • A mission type may differ from the one selected.
  • Interrupting a reload may cause R-4 Hyena magazines to be lost.
  • Displayed stratagem call-in times may not match the actual timing.

These are discrete issues Arrowhead acknowledges, not proof that every player encounters them or that all began with 7.1.0. The support page says its list can include problems from earlier versions. It also says most crash, performance, and connectivity problems are ongoing work and are not listed there.

What players criticized—and what the discussion can show

A September 22 community thread about 7.1.0 includes individual complaints about airburst behavior and kill tracking, alongside approval of some changes. That supports saying some players objected to particular aspects of the update; it does not show that players broadly agree the patch made the game worse. The thread is discussion, not a poll, and does not establish how common the complaints are or whether 7.1.0 caused every reported problem.

  • Ready for Upgrades – Designed with tool-less access, easily swap out components, ensuring future-proof performance for years to come.

Player criticism also needs to be separated from Arrowhead’s confirmed issue list. A complaint in a discussion is evidence of that person’s experience or view; it is not equivalent to an issue confirmed by the developer.

What the 7.1.0 update and hotfix addressed

Arrowhead’s official 7.1.0 announcement lists fixes, including kill-tracking fixes for mines, vehicles, drones, and backpacks, plus a rare state in which a player could not be reinforced. The official patch source also includes Devoid of Liberty: 7.0.0, displayed as September 22, 2026; the Steam announcement and discussion identify that date’s update as 7.1.0. Those labels differ across the retrieved official materials, so the 7.1.0 announcement is the clearest reference for the update discussed by players.

A September 24 hotfix, described in the discussion thread, addressed crashes when opening terminals in fullscreen and with superwide windows. Fixes and hotfixes show that developers addressed particular problems; by themselves, they do not measure the update’s overall effect on gameplay, stability, or player satisfaction.

So, is the latest patch damaging Helldivers 2?

The evidence supports a narrower conclusion: some players criticized specific 7.1.0 behaviors, and Arrowhead’s October 7 list acknowledges several gameplay and technical issues. It does not establish the scale of those problems, a broad decline in player sentiment, or that the update caused every issue still listed. Nor do the listed fixes settle whether the patch’s overall effect was positive or negative.
