As of October 8, 2026, Arrowhead has not published a dated Helldivers 2 content roadmap. The studio says it is iterating on campaign structure for the next major update, but has not given a release date, version number, or full feature list. Its latest forward-looking comments also name stability as a priority between updates. Arrowhead’s official Steam announcements are the best place to check for changes.
What is confirmed for the next major update?
Creative Director Mikael Eriksson said on September 25, 2026, that Arrowhead is iterating on campaign structure for the next major update. The studio wants major story beats to run longer and community decisions to shape campaign endings more clearly. Eriksson describes the design levers as the number of campaign phases, how long content stays live, and how much room Game Masters have to react to players.

That is work in progress, not a guaranteed feature slate: Arrowhead has not confirmed that every proposed change will ship in the next update. The post gives no date, month, or version number. Eriksson called campaign-structure work “the one to watch for going forwards” and said it is being iterated on for the “next big update.” Read the September 25 announcement.
Stability and quality-of-life work
Arrowhead says stability will remain a priority between updates. Eriksson acknowledged that Devoid of Liberty had a rough launch, including crashes when opening terminals in fullscreen and on ultrawide monitors; two follow-up patches were needed. The same post says additional quality-of-life requests remain on the backlog, but does not list a dated delivery plan.

Longer-term design direction
The September 25 post describes a goal of making the Galactic War feel dynamic day to day and present across the game and community. Arrowhead also says it is considering faction-specific enemy groupings for all factions, similar to the Illuminate Fleet system. These are design aims under consideration, not confirmed features or scheduled releases.
Is there a Helldivers 2 release schedule?
No official dated future content calendar appears in the developer material reviewed as of October 8, 2026. The available schedule information is limited to the broad next-update focus and a separate maintenance notice:

- Next major update: campaign-structure iteration is the stated focus; no date, version, or complete feature list has been announced.
- October maintenance: an announcement posted October 5 scheduled network maintenance for October 6 at 08:00 UTC, planned for two hours. This was service maintenance, not a content update.
For future dates and patch notes, check the official Steam announcement feed and PlayStation’s Helldivers 2 news and updates page. A maintenance notice, a developer’s stated priority, and a dated content release are different kinds of information; only the last would establish when new content is due.

Devoid of Liberty 7.0.0 went live on September 22, 2026. Its features are already in the game, so they should not be mistaken for upcoming roadmap items.

Arrowhead’s 7.0.0 notes give the full update details. The September 22 follow-up 7.1.0 patch added changes including per-Destroyer Stratagem Hero leaderboards and gameplay fixes. Version 7.1.1, released September 24, addressed crashes when opening terminals in fullscreen and on superwide windows; both follow-ups are listed in the official announcement feed.
Devoid of Liberty’s August launch
The August 12 Devoid of Liberty release introduced the Void/Illuminate front and SEAF companions. In an Xbox Wire article, Arrowhead Community Manager Mitch Ayre described four SEAF squad roles: Squad Leader C. Zhang, Medic STIMmothy, Rifleman A. Aaronson, and Specialist B. Devaux. This explains what launched with the update; it is not a forecast of future releases.
How to read future roadmap claims
When a new feature or date is discussed, check whether Arrowhead labels it as shipped, work in progress, or only a design direction. A developer’s description of an aim does not by itself confirm that it will arrive in a particular patch. For a release schedule, look for an official announcement that names a date or version, rather than inferring one from the phrase “next big update.”
