In the current Update 2.3 item system, the old “Legendary” label is no longer the highest rarity; top gear uses Tier 5 and Tier 5++ terminology. Update 2.3 is free for owners of the base game, and Phantom Liberty is required only for the Dogtown items and missions identified below.
Many rewards are not added automatically when a quest ends. Search named enemies, safes, tables, optional rooms, containers and boss arenas before leaving. The scanner is especially useful in dark interiors and cluttered areas.

Before hunting hidden items
- Current terminology: Since Update 2.0, “Legendary” is legacy terminology. The current gear tiers run from Tier 1 to Tier 5++, and Iconic weapons can scale to your current tier when picked up and be upgraded to Tier 5++ with upgrade components. See the official Update 2.3 notes and this rarity and Iconic-gear reference.
- Save before one-time missions: Errata, Satori and several Phantom Liberty rewards can become inaccessible after the relevant mission area closes or a story branch is completed.
- Loot manually: Iconics may be on a corpse, table, in a safe, inside a container or dropped by a boss. Completing the mission does not always award them automatically.
- Use the scanner: Sweep rooms, rooftops, offices and combat arenas for small weapons, shards, crafting specifications and containers obscured by debris.
Hidden Iconic weapons in the base game

The following rewards require Phantom Liberty unless stated otherwise. Dogtown contains both quest-specific pickups and branch-dependent rewards, so keep a manual save before major decisions.

| Erebus | Branch-dependent. Side with Reed during “Firestarter” and reach the Cynosure facility. Its route is mutually exclusive with the Militech Canto Mk.6 in a single playthrough unless you reload or plan around separate saves. |

Phantom Liberty’s broader non-story Iconic catalog also includes Agaou, Carmen, Kyubi X-MOD2, Laika, Raiju, Rosco, Volkodav, Cut-o-Matic x-MOD2, Sparky, Ambition, Baby Boomer, Pizdets, Riskit and Ol’ Reliable. Depending on the item, availability can be always-on, event-dependent, vendor-based or quest-dependent.
Dogtown’s black-market vendor
The black-market arms dealer in the EBM Petrochem Stadium market can sell some Iconic weapons you skipped or lost access to, including certain base-game and Phantom Liberty items. However, the inventory depends on what happened in your playthrough and does not guarantee every unique quest reward. Treat the vendor as a recovery option, not a complete safety net.

Unique clothing and outfit rewards

Clothing is primarily cosmetic after Update 2.0: most garments no longer provide conventional armor. Collect these pieces for their appearance and set them through the wardrobe/outfit system rather than expecting them to replace your cyberware-based defenses.

Hidden vehicles and how to unlock them

| Rayfield Caliburn | Complete “Ghost Town,” leave the area and wait at least 24 in-game hours. Then visit the long cave north of the Sunset Motel in the Badlands—the tunnel from the Nash/Raffen Shiv sequence. Enter the blue shipping container near the car icon and get into the vehicle. |
| Quadra Type-66 “Hoon” | Go to the abandoned warehouse district near the Longshore North fast-travel point in Northside, Watson. “I’m in Love with My Car” begins as you approach. Find the key in a nearby container under junk; it is not carried by an enemy. Use it to enter the car. |
| Delamain No. 21 | Complete the Epistrophy chain and “Don’t Lose Your Mind.” After choosing the outcome at Delamain HQ, finish the quest and wait for the reward message. The cab then appears in your vehicle list. |
| Porsche 911 II (930) Turbo | During “Chippin’ In,” confront Grayson at the Ebunike docks. Take the access card, use the nearby control panel to lower the shipping container, open it and collect the Porsche. The mission does not require this step, so it is easy to leave behind. |

Secret rooms and exploration loot
Kabuki Market developer room
In the lower section of Kabuki Market in Watson, look for the locked door near the shops and vending machines. Enter keypad code 605185. The room contains a couch and a screen showing photographs of the Cyberpunk 2077 development team. This is an Easter egg, not a hidden gear cache.

What to search while exploring
Night City hides useful items in locked rooms, rooftops, abandoned facilities, underwater containers, apartments, optional offices, security booths, basements and areas above combat arenas. Possible finds include crafting specifications, perk shards, cyberware-capacity shards, eddies and unique environmental objects.
- Scan before and after combat; loot outlines can disappear into smoke, darkness or clutter.
- Check above the main arena, behind staircases and inside side offices.
- Inspect tables, safes, lockers and containers before activating the final objective.
- Search named enemies and bosses instead of assuming a quest tracker will mark the reward.
- Keep a separate save before entering a one-time mission interior or making a Phantom Liberty branch decision.
What older hidden-item guides get wrong
- “Legendary” is the current highest rarity: No. Current terminology is Tier 5 and Tier 5++.
- Every missed Iconic is guaranteed at the Dogtown vendor: No. The black-market stock varies, and some rewards may not appear.
- The Caliburn is waiting in the tunnel immediately: No. “Ghost Town” must be completed and time must pass.
- An enemy carries the Hoon key: No. Search the nearby container beneath the junk.
- Finishing the mission automatically adds every Iconic: No. Physically loot the relevant corpse, table, safe, container, boss arena or optional room.
- All clothing is important armor: No. Most clothing is now cosmetic, while defensive specialization comes largely from cyberware and the broader character-build system.
Best way to avoid missing a reward
For any mission associated with an Iconic item, stop before the exit or final transition and make a complete sweep. Check the scanner, loot every named enemy, revisit optional rooms and inspect conspicuous safes, lockers and containers. This matters most for “The Heist,” “Disasterpiece,” Phantom Liberty missions, “Chippin’ In” and gigs with a boss arena. If an item is tied to a story branch, retain a save from before the choice rather than assuming the black-market vendor can restore it later.
