Its spoiler-light mystery unfolds in Hinamizawa amid the tensions surrounding a dam project, with recurring deaths and a disappearance at the center of the setup. It is a chapter-specific game release, not the entire Higurashi series.
What kind of game is Tatarigoroshi?
Steam describes Higurashi When They Cry as a “sound novel”: a story experienced primarily through text, accompanied by music, backgrounds, and character presentation. This chapter is classified as an Adventure game and supports single-player play. It is not an action game.
The developer is 07th Expansion and the publisher is MangaGamer. Steam lists the chapter’s release date as June 17, 2016. See the Steam listing for Higurashi When They Cry Hou – Ch.3 Tatarigoroshi.
What is the spoiler-light premise?
The official synopsis begins in Hinamizawa, a small countryside village, in early summer of Shouwa 58. An annual event is associated with a mysterious death and a disappearance. As deaths recur amid upheaval around a dam construction project, the story raises the possibility of conspiracy, coincidence, or a curse. The synopsis presents these as questions; it does not establish which explanation is correct.
