Yes. If you own Hitman: Absolution on Nintendo Switch, Feral Interactive says you can claim the Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack free through November 4, 2026. After that date, Feral lists a paid upgrade. Nintendo confirms that the Switch 2 Edition supports Save Data Cloud, but the official information reviewed does not confirm that every existing campaign save, challenge completion, unlock, or Contracts record will transfer automatically.
That distinction matters: cloud-save support is confirmed, while complete automatic migration is not. If your progress matters, sync your current Switch save before upgrading and keep the original version installed until you have checked your progress in the Switch 2 Edition. Treat that as a precaution, not as an official transfer procedure.

What does the Switch 2 Edition upgrade add?
Feral describes the Switch 2 Edition as an enhanced version of Hitman: Absolution, with changes to resolution, performance, visuals, controls, and online features. It is not described as new story content. The improvements are most relevant if you want a version designed to take advantage of Switch 2 hardware rather than simply relying on backward compatibility.
- Higher output resolution: Feral lists increased resolution in both handheld and docked modes.
- Higher handheld frame-rate potential: Feral says handheld performance improves up to 60 FPS. “Up to” describes the stated ceiling; it is not a guarantee that the game holds 60 FPS in every scene.
- Joy-Con 2 mouse controls: the edition supports mouse-style control using Joy-Con 2.
- Visual refinements: Feral lists improvements to animation and visual effects in demanding scenes, plus improvements to level of detail, shadow quality, and texture filtering.
- Contracts at release: Switch 2 players can access the challenge-setting mode and cross-platform leaderboards from release day.
These are the principal differences Feral identifies. Its announcement does not characterize the upgrade as an added campaign or a separate story expansion, so buyers should understand it as an enhanced edition of the existing game.

How much does the Switch 2 upgrade cost?
The price depends on whether you already own the Nintendo Switch version. Feral’s October 22, 2026 announcement gives a free-upgrade window for existing owners and separate prices for the upgrade and full Switch 2 Edition after that window. Prices are listed in US dollars, pounds sterling, and euros; the amount shown in a particular eShop may differ by region.
| Situation | Through November 4, 2026 | After November 4, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| You already own the Switch version | Free Upgrade Pack, claimed through the eShop | $9.99 / £4.99 / €4.99 for the Upgrade Pack |
| You do not own the Switch version and want to play on Switch 2 | $29.99 / £19.99 / €24.99 for the Switch 2 Edition | $39.99 / £24.99 / €29.99 for the Switch 2 Edition |

Feral says existing owners can claim the Upgrade Pack from the Nintendo eShop. The offer is free through November 4, 2026; the listed price after that is $9.99 / £4.99 / €4.99. The announcement does not give a more detailed menu-by-menu eShop path, so use the store listing for the game and look for the Switch 2 Upgrade Pack rather than assuming that purchasing the full edition is necessary.
Feral’s November 13, 2025 announcement had said native Switch 2 support would be a free upgrade for existing Switch players. Its October 2026 announcement gives the current deadline and the price that applies after it. For a purchase made near or after the deadline, check the price displayed in your regional eShop before confirming.

If you are buying the game for Switch 2
If you do not already own the Switch release, Feral directs new Switch 2 players to buy the Switch 2 Edition directly from the eShop. Feral lists a launch price of $29.99 / £19.99 / €24.99 and a price of $39.99 / £24.99 / €29.99 after November 4, 2026. The free Upgrade Pack offer is for existing Switch owners; it is not the listed route for a new owner buying the game for the first time.
Will my Switch save transfer to the Switch 2 Edition?
Nintendo lists Save Data Cloud support for the Switch 2 Edition. That confirms cloud-save support, but it does not by itself establish that the Switch 2 Edition automatically imports every kind of progress from the original Switch version. The official pages reviewed do not spell out a complete migration process or a category-by-category compatibility guarantee.
In particular, those pages do not explicitly confirm whether each of the following transfers automatically:
- Campaign progress and local save data.
- Challenge completion and associated unlocks.
- Contracts records or other mode-specific progress.
They also do not say whether a player must launch the original edition first, manually download cloud data, or complete another in-game step. Do not treat the phrase “Save Data Cloud” as confirmation of those details; cloud-save availability and automatic full migration are different claims.

What to do before upgrading
Because the exact transfer steps are not documented in the reviewed official material, take reasonable precautions without assuming a particular migration method:
- Sync your existing save. Before moving to the Switch 2 Edition, make sure the current Switch save has synchronized with Nintendo’s cloud-save service, if you use that service.
- Keep the original version available. Do not remove the original installation until you have opened the Switch 2 Edition and checked whether the progress you care about is present.
- Check different kinds of progress separately. Confirm the campaign, challenge-related progress, and Contracts records you personally rely on rather than treating one visible save as proof that every record carried over.
- Pause before overwriting or deleting anything. If expected progress is missing, retain the original installation and save while you check the game’s official support information for current instructions. The reviewed announcements do not supply a recovery or manual-import procedure.
This is cautious advice based on the gap between confirmed cloud support and undocumented full migration. It is not a claim that a save will fail to transfer, nor a substitute for an officially published transfer guide if one becomes available.

Yes. Feral says Contracts mode is available to Switch 2 players from release day, with cross-platform leaderboards. The mode lets players set challenges and compete on those leaderboards, so its availability is a concrete online-feature difference to note when comparing the Switch 2 release with the original Switch launch.
Feral’s November 2025 announcement had described Contracts as a free post-release update planned for the Switch version. Its October 2026 announcement says Switch 2 players can use the mode at release. The current Switch 2 availability statement does not, by itself, establish how an individual player’s previous Contracts records or challenge progress will be migrated; those save details remain separate from the mode being available in the new edition.

How much storage does the Switch 2 Edition need?
Nintendo’s 2026 product listing reports a file size of 15.7 GB. That is the listed download size, not a claim about the amount of additional free space every system will need during installation or updates. Check the eShop and console storage screen for the current space requirement when downloading.
Nintendo Switch 2 is compatible with microSD Express cards. One may be useful if you need more room for this game or other digital titles, but Nintendo does not present a card as a requirement for claiming the Upgrade Pack or playing the game. If your console has enough available storage, no separate card is implied by the listed file size.
Which option makes sense for me?
The practical choice follows ownership and timing: claim the free Upgrade Pack before November 4, 2026 if you own the Switch game; buy the Switch 2 Edition if you are a new owner; and treat save transfer as a separate question from entitlement. Use the table below to check which features matter most for your move to Switch 2.
| What matters to you | What Feral or Nintendo confirms | What remains uncertain |
|---|---|---|
| Cost of moving from the Switch version | Free Upgrade Pack through November 4, 2026; Feral lists a paid price afterward. | The exact price shown can vary by regional eShop. |
| Visual and performance changes | Higher output resolution, visual refinements, and handheld frame-rate improvements up to 60 FPS. | The stated 60 FPS ceiling is not a promise of that rate in every scene. |
| Control options | Joy-Con 2 mouse-control support. | The cited announcement does not provide a detailed control-by-control setup guide. |
| Online challenges | Contracts mode and cross-platform leaderboards are available for Switch 2 players at release. | Automatic transfer of prior Contracts records is not explicitly confirmed. |
| Existing progress | Nintendo lists Save Data Cloud support. | Automatic transfer of every save category and the steps required are not documented in the official material reviewed. |
| Storage | Nintendo lists 15.7 GB; Switch 2 supports microSD Express cards. | A card is optional, not an identified requirement. |
For most existing owners, the immediate decision is whether to claim the time-limited free pack. Separately, preserve the original save and verify progress after launching the new edition; the available official statements do not justify assuming either complete automatic migration or guaranteed loss.
