To reach ordinary Verdania, progress to Act 3 after rescuing and helping the Green Prince; the entrance is on the eastern side of Greymoor, to the right of Craw Lake. To enter Lost Verdania, play Elegy of the Deep beside the Green Prince there. Explore the memory area before defeating its boss: beating the Clover Dancers makes Lost Verdania inaccessible.
How to unlock Verdania
- Rescue the Green Prince in Sinner’s Road. In Act 2, travel to Sinner’s Road via Greymoor and use a Simple Key to open his cell. If you already spent the key available for purchase in Bone Bottom, PC Gamer notes that a Roachkeeper miniboss in Sinner’s Road can provide another. See the PC Gamer Green Prince guide.
- Meet him in the Choral Chambers. Find the Green Prince in the lower-left area, near the Citadel Spa.
- Defeat the Cogwork Dancers. Beat them at the top of the Choral Chambers, then speak to the Green Prince by the arena exit. If he does not appear straight away, rest and check again, as PC Gamer advises.
- Reach Act 3 and find the entrance. The ordinary entrance to Verdania opens at the rightmost side of Craw Lake in eastern Greymoor.
Present-day Verdania is a short area with a map and bench. The Green Prince is there mourning beside a Cogwork Dancer’s corpse. The steps above and the memory-area details below follow the PC Gamer guide and the Hollow Knight Wiki area guide.
How to enter Lost Verdania
Lost Verdania is a memory version of the area, entered by using the Needolin’s Elegy of the Deep beside the Green Prince in ordinary Verdania. To learn the song, continue The Dark Below: follow the Bone Bottom Chapel direction, unlock the diving-bell route in Deep Docks, reach The Abyss, and return to the Chapel. Once you have Elegy of the Deep, play it next to the prince to enter his memory.
What to do in Lost Verdania before the boss
Lost Verdania contains the Clover Dancers, optional memory orbs, a lore tablet, and the Palestag. Treat the area as a one-time exploration window: defeating the Clover Dancers closes access to Lost Verdania. The Hollow Knight Wiki says the area’s necessary Hunter’s Journal entries unlock from that fight, and Palestag is not required for 100% completion; however, optional orbs and lore should be collected before the encounter if you want them.

Understand the two orb thresholds
The Clover Dancers’ encounter is gated by 12 memory orbs. According to the Hollow Knight Wiki, seven can be found in breakable statues or flowers that create quick chains, while five are obtained from the Palestag. A further five are associated with activating the Sacred Shrine in the easternmost room. Collecting all 17 orbs reveals an additional lore tablet; that is separate from the 12-orb boss requirement. Use Needolin for directional hints toward orbs you have not found.
Decide whether to fight the Clover Dancers
Defeating the Clover Dancers rewards the Conjoined Heart, a fourth Heart that can stand in for one of the three Hearts required for plot progression. The cost is permanent loss of access to Lost Verdania, so finish any optional exploration you care about before starting the fight. The area details and missability information are from the community-maintained Hollow Knight Wiki guide; game behavior can differ if a later patch changes it.
