Version 3.4 of Honkai: Star Rail launched on July 2, 2025, so the old warning to start farming before the update is no longer timely. Before release, a leak-based guide listed Phainon’s ascension, Trace, and signature Light Cone materials; treat its quantities as reported pre-release figures, not official or independently verified current requirements.
Can you pre-farm Phainon’s materials?
Some materials on the pre-release list came from repeatable activities or exchanges, while others were tied to content that arrived with Version 3.4. The June 4, 2025 TOPUPlive guide did not establish a complete item-by-item pre-farm timeline, so its list should not be read as proof that every item was obtainable before the update.

For example, the guide named Calyx (Crimson): Bud of Destruction, Embers Exchange, and Omni-Synthesizer exchange for the Borisin Teeth, Lupitoxin Sawteeth, and Moon Rage Fang used for Traces. It listed Darkveil Moonlight from Stagnant Shadow in Murmuring Woods: Grove of Epiphany or Omni-Synthesizer exchange, and Daythunder Anamnesis from Echo of War: Glance of Twilight in Fortress of Dome: Eye of Twilight. Those named sources do not establish that the new-version locations or boss drop were available before 3.4.

TOPUPlive’s June 4, 2025 pre-release guide reported the following quantities for Phainon’s character progression. It warned that its leak-based figures could change at official release.

Reported farming sources by material
- Darkveil Moonlight: The guide named Stagnant Shadow: Murmuring Woods: Grove of Epiphany and Omni-Synthesizer material exchange. The location was associated with new-version content, so this route should not be treated as a pre-3.4 farm.
- Ethereal Omen, Echoing Wail, and Eternal Lament: It associated these with Dark Tide Creatures after Equilibrium Level 4, synthesis, and enemies in Differential Universe and Simulated Universe.
- Borisin Teeth, Lupitoxin Sawteeth, and Moon Rage Fang: It listed Calyx (Crimson): Bud of Destruction, Embers Exchange, and Omni-Synthesizer exchange.
- Daythunder Anamnesis: The listed source was Echo of War: Glance of Twilight in Fortress of Dome: Eye of Twilight. The guide does not establish that this drop could be farmed before the related content became available.
- Tracks of Destiny: Listed sources were Simulated Universe point rewards, Nameless Honor, Embers Exchange, Starlight Exchange, and limited-time events.
Signature Light Cone materials are separate
If you also planned to cultivate Phainon’s signature Light Cone, the same guide listed these additional quantities. They are not included in the character totals above.

These are leak-based pre-release figures from TOPUPlive’s June 4, 2025 guide, which cautioned that its list might change. HoYoverse’s June 20, 2025 announcement confirmed the Version 3.4 release date and titled the update “For the Sun is Set to Die,” but the cited official announcement did not confirm the material totals.
