How progression fits together
ARC Raiders progression is spread across several connected systems rather than a single campaign track. Quests and objectives provide XP and listed rewards; trader offers let you obtain or trade for particular items; the skill tree lets you shape your Raider; Outpost projects and research create longer-term goals; and Reward Points advance the currently selected Reward Pass. Expeditions sit apart from these activities: they are a voluntary departure system with reset implications, not a currently open quest track.

These mechanics reflect Embark’s Frozen Trail 2.0 update, released October 8, 2026. Details such as trader stock and balancing can change, so use the live client for current offers and objective status.
How quests and XP work
Frozen Trail 2.0 added 22 quests; that is the number added in the update, not the game’s total quest count. Completing quests and individual quest objectives now grants XP alongside the rewards listed for them. The update also revised quest-list sorting and changed older photo-taking objectives to use the new camera.

If an objective appears stuck, check its current in-game description and status rather than assuming it is broken or that it will complete automatically. Embark listed some quest behavior among the update’s known issues, including the first Outpost photo objective.

Traders have distinct roles, and the October update changed some offers. These notes describe the update’s changes, not a guarantee that every item is permanently available.

Frozen Trail 2.0 reorganized the skill tree around more explicit playstyle choices. In the middle of each branch, choose one of two skills. At the end of a branch, after investing the required points, you can choose up to two of its three skills. Embark says it may tune the tree further as it observes how players use it, so treat the current layout as version-specific rather than fixed.

How to unlock and use the Outpost
Complete a project to unlock the Outpost. Unlocking it provides access to a research station, and you can expand the Outpost with modules. Furniture Designs work as learned recipes that unlock craftable furniture.
The first listed Outpost step asks you to take a photo of a farmland house. The update says the Camera can be purchased from Shani, crafted at the Workbench, or found topside. Because this first photo step was also listed among known issues, check the live objective if it does not register.

How Reward Pass progression works
Frozen Trail 2.0 replaced Cred with Reward Points. Points are applied automatically to the currently selected Reward Pass, so confirm the active pass before earning progress if you are working toward a particular set of rewards.

Expeditions: availability, sign-up, and reset context
The fifth Expedition departure window ran September 8–29, 2026, and is closed as of October 13, 2026. Embark says Expeditions are paused until early 2027, when they are expected to return with major improvements. The studio cited concerns about narrow departure windows, reward structure, and accessibility for new players in its fifth Expedition announcement. There is no current departure window to join.
For that fifth Expedition, players could opt out of resetting quest progress. Completing a Caravan alone did not sign a player up: sign-up had to happen during the window, and there was no Last Call feature. Those details describe the September 2026 event and should not be assumed to define the redesigned system when Expeditions return.
Embark’s original October 9, 2025 explanation described Expeditions as a voluntary alternative to mandatory wipes. ARC Raiders design director Virgil wrote, “However, one thing a mandatory wipe does not do is respect the investment of those players who do not have as much time to play overall.” That is historical design rationale, not a current guarantee about what progress or inventory will reset in a future Expedition.
