At its April 2025 launch on Verdansk, Warzone’s Battle Royale Casual used the standard Battle Royale objective but filled most of the lobby with bots: 28 human players and up to 120 bots. Call of Duty presented it as a lower-pressure way to warm up or build confidence. The lobby count, progression limits and stat rules below describe the launch version; they are not confirmation of the playlist’s configuration on October 8, 2026.
How a Battle Royale Casual match works
The mode kept Battle Royale’s core rules: loot, survive as the gas closes, and try to be the last squad standing. Its defining difference at launch was the mix of human and computer-controlled opponents, not a different win condition. Call of Duty’s Season 03 patch notes and Verdansk launch blog describe a lobby of 28 players, including you, and up to 120 bots. “Up to” is a maximum; it does not mean every match had exactly 120 bots.
Call of Duty described the mode as a warm-up, a less intense alternative to a lobby of 149 human opponents, and an option for building confidence. That is the publisher’s intended framing, not a measured comparison of match difficulty.
What counted at launch—and what did not
Call of Duty’s April 2025 launch description said Battle Royale Casual had limited progression, match results did not count for or against player stats, and matches did not count toward eligibility for Battle Royale Ranked Play. These are launch rules; the sources do not establish whether they were later changed.

Separate Season 04 2026 notes introduce Placement Challenges that award points for placement milestones in Battle Royale, Resurgence and casual variant playlists. That later challenge system is distinct from the launch rule about Ranked Play eligibility; one does not establish that Casual matches became eligible for Ranked.
How it compared with Bootcamp
Bootcamp and Battle Royale Casual both offered a way to play against bots, but the cited descriptions give them different purposes and lobby formats. These are figures from different dated materials, not a comparison of confirmed current playlists.

The older Bootcamp guide called it Warzone’s only mode with bots at the time it was published. That predates Battle Royale Casual, so it should not be taken as a current description.
Who could access it under the June 2026 rules
Call of Duty’s Season 04 2026 patch notes say that players on PCs who fail Microsoft Azure Attestation checks are placed in a separate matchmaking pool and are limited to listed playlist options that include Battle Royale Casual. This is a dated access rule. It does not mean Casual was restricted to those players, nor does it confirm its general availability after those notes.

What is not confirmed about the current playlist
The official materials cited here establish the April 2025 launch setup and a June 2026 access rule, but not Battle Royale Casual’s availability, squad-size choices or lobby configuration on October 8, 2026. Treat the 28-player, up-to-120-bot mix and launch progression rules as historical details rather than guaranteed current settings.
