Start with the account and store where you bought Minecraft. For a Microsoft, Minecraft website, or Xbox purchase, check Microsoft Order history while signed in to the Microsoft account used to buy it. For a copy bought through PlayStation, Nintendo, Apple, Google Play, or Steam, check that storefront’s account history and library instead.
Find a Microsoft, Minecraft website, or Xbox purchase
- Open Microsoft account billing and sign in to the Microsoft account that may have been used for the purchase. If you have multiple Microsoft accounts, check each likely one; Microsoft advises using the account associated with the purchase.
- Go to Payment & billing > Order history. Choose a date range that covers when you bought Minecraft, then inspect the order and its status.
- Search the email inboxes associated with your likely Microsoft accounts for the Minecraft purchase confirmation. Minecraft says the confirmation is sent to the email address on the Microsoft account.
- On Windows, open Microsoft Store and check My Library for the game. Microsoft says digital downloads also appear in Order history.
Check that the order was completed
An order number by itself does not establish that a purchase went through: Minecraft warns that a failed payment can still generate one. Check the transaction and order status rather than treating any reference number as proof. Microsoft labels charges Completed or Redeemed when completed; In progress means the charge has not yet posted to the payment option.
If Minecraft still asks you to buy it
First verify that the game or launcher is signed in with the Microsoft account shown on the purchase record. Minecraft says signing in to the Xbox app with the account that owns Minecraft can sometimes resolve sign-in errors; after checking, retry Minecraft. If the order is present but access still appears unavailable, contact Microsoft or Minecraft support with the order details and confirmation. The support guidance does not guarantee a particular outcome.
If you bought Minecraft from another platform
Use the account for the original storefront, not simply the Microsoft account you may use to access Minecraft services or cross-platform play. Check that platform’s purchase history or game library, and contact its support if needed. Minecraft identifies Sony PlayStation, Nintendo, Apple iOS, Google Play, and Steam as separate purchase platforms; purchases through platforms that do not require a Microsoft account are governed by those platform terms.

For an older Mojang-era Java purchase
If an older purchase needs ownership verification, search older email inboxes for Minecraft receipts and payment-processor messages. Minecraft Player Care says it uses transaction IDs to verify ownership of Mojang accounts and Minecraft purchases made before July 25, 2022. Its guidance also lists a redeemed gift PIN or code and payment-processor information as possible evidence to look for.
Player Care says it cannot provide account support for Microsoft Store purchases or purchases from unauthorized websites, resellers, or another player. Microsoft Support handles Microsoft Store purchases made after July 25, 2022.

What if the purchase was never migrated?
Mojang-to-Microsoft account migration ended on December 18, 2023. Minecraft says it no longer assists with migration-related queries, so do not assume an un-migrated Mojang account can still be migrated through ordinary support.

- The account email and the storefront where you believe the purchase was made.
- The order entry, order status, and transaction ID, if available.
