1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsPress the dedicated DPI button near the mouse’s scroll wheel to cycle through the built-in sensitivity levels. Press it repeatedly, move the pointer after each press, and stop when the cursor feels right.
“Zebronics Transformer” covers several mouse models, including Transformer, Transformer M, Transformer M3, Transformer M Plus, and Transformer 1. Their DPI presets differ, so do not assume every Transformer uses the same numbers.
Quick steps
- Connect the mouse directly to your computer’s USB port.
- Find the small button marked DPI on the top shell, usually near or just behind the scroll wheel.
- Place the pointer on the Windows desktop or another open area.
- Press the DPI button once and move the mouse the same physical distance.
- Press the button again to cycle to the next preset.
- Repeat until the pointer speed feels comfortable, then test it in your game or application.
If the pointer travels farther with the same hand movement, the DPI increased. If it travels less far, the DPI decreased. Most preset-only Transformer mice cycle through the levels in one direction and eventually return to the first setting.
Where is the DPI button?
Look on the top of the mouse, close to the scroll wheel—typically between the wheel and the main buttons or just behind the wheel. Button layouts vary between Transformer models, so check the marking, product photos, or included manual.

Do not confuse the DPI button with an RGB-lighting button. If the mouse has no obvious label, identify the exact model first. The official Transformer M listing confirms that the mouse has a dedicated DPI control, but its position should not be assumed to be identical across the entire Transformer family.
Which DPI levels does your Transformer use?
The exact sequence depends on the model:
| Model | Listed DPI presets |
|---|---|
| Original Transformer combo | 1000 / 1600 / 2400 / 3200 DPI |
| Transformer M | 1200 / 1800 / 2400 / 3200 DPI on the product page; 1000 / 1600 / 2400 / 3600 DPI on the shop listing |
| Transformer M3 | 800 / 1200 / 2400 / 3200 DPI |
| Transformer M Plus | 800 / 1600 / 2400 / 4800 / 9600 / 12800 DPI |
| Transformer 1 | 1000 / 1600 / 2400 / 3200 DPI |
For the conflicting Transformer M specifications, use the model name on the underside of the mouse, box, manual, or the listing for your exact unit as the authority. See the official pages for the original Transformer, Transformer M3, Transformer M Plus, and Transformer 1.
How to identify the active DPI level
Check the documentation
The manual, packaging, and exact official product page are the only dependable ways to map each button press to a numerical DPI value. Windows normally cannot tell you which hardware preset is active.

Use a fixed-distance test
- Leave Windows pointer settings unchanged.
- Mark a starting point and move the mouse 5–10 cm.
- Note how far the pointer travels.
- Press DPI once and repeat the same movement.
- Continue until you identify the slowest and fastest stages.
This reveals the relative order of the presets, but it cannot prove their exact numbers.
Treat lighting as an indicator only
Some models may change LED colour, brightness, or pattern when DPI changes. Use that information only if the manual or product page explains the mapping. There is no universal Transformer-family LED colour code.
What DPI means
DPI describes how far the pointer moves for a given physical movement of the mouse. A lower DPI requires more hand movement and usually feels slower and more controlled. A higher DPI moves the pointer farther with less hand movement.

Higher DPI is not automatically more accurate or better for gaming. The useful setting depends on your mouse surface, display size, game sensitivity, and personal control.
DPI versus Windows mouse sensitivity
The physical DPI button changes the mouse’s built-in hardware preset. Windows applies a separate pointer-speed adjustment afterward, and games can apply another sensitivity setting of their own.

Enhance pointer precision applies pointer acceleration. If you want consistent movement for competitive games, test your aim with it disabled—but change only one setting at a time so you know whether DPI, Windows speed, or game sensitivity caused the difference.
Practical starting points
| Use case | Starting approach |
|---|---|
| Precision aiming or detailed editing | Try the lowest or second-lowest mouse preset. |
| Browsing and office work | Start at a middle preset. |
| Large or multiple monitors | Try a middle-to-high preset. |
| Fast-paced games | Begin at a moderate preset, then tune the game’s sensitivity. |
| Cursor feels jumpy | Lower the mouse DPI by one step, then adjust Windows speed if needed. |
| Cursor feels sluggish | Increase the mouse DPI by one step. |
If the DPI button does not appear to work
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| No apparent change | Test on the desktop, press once, and repeat the fixed-distance test several times. Adjacent stages may feel similar, or the mouse may have cycled back to the first preset. |
| Cursor is too fast or slow | Change one hardware DPI stage first, then adjust Windows or in-game sensitivity. |
| Cursor skips or behaves erratically | Clean the optical sensor, use a matte mouse pad, try another USB port, and compare the mouse on another computer. |
| Software cannot detect the mouse | Confirm the exact model and install software only when its official support page provides it. Do not use a utility for a different Transformer variant. |
| Settings reset after restarting | Do not assume the mouse has onboard memory. If profile storage is not documented, the physical DPI button is the dependable method. |
For software availability, check the official Zebronics drivers page. It lists utilities for some gaming mice but does not establish a universal configuration program for every Transformer model.

If you mean the Zebronics Transformer gaming mouse, you change its DPI with the mouse’s physical DPI button—not through a monitor menu. Display scaling and monitor settings are separate from mouse sensitivity.

Should you replace the mouse?
Do not replace it merely because Windows does not display a DPI number. That is normal for a preset-based mouse. Keep the Transformer if its button cycles normally and its available stages suit you.
Consider another model only if you need a different range or software control. The Transformer M3 offers lower starting stages, the Transformer M Plus offers more stages and a documented RGB DPI indicator, and Zebronics’ Phobos Pro is the more appropriate option when official software-based DPI configuration is the priority. Its software should not be assumed to work with Transformer mice.
