Equip a wing accessory, then press and hold your Jump key to fly. On PC, Jump is Space by default. Flight is temporary: when it runs out, keeping Jump held lets you glide. Your flight time resets when you stand on a block or hook onto one with a grappling hook.
How to start flying
- Equip a wing accessory in an accessory slot.
- Jump and keep holding your Jump key. On PC, the default key is Space; if you changed your controls, use the key shown for Jump in the Controls menu.
Wings provide temporary flight and slow your fall. While equipped, they generally take the place of an ordinary jump. The Calamity Mod Wiki’s wings guide describes the flight controls and wing stats.

What happens when flight runs out?
Once the wing’s flight time is used, continuing to hold Jump lets you glide rather than fly upward. Hold Down to accelerate your fall. Touching down on a block or hooking onto one with a grappling hook resets flight time, so you can take off again.
Which wings can you use?
Wing options depend on how far you have progressed. The Official Calamity Mod Wiki says the mod adds 11 wing types: one available in Pre-Hardmode, five in Hardmode, and five after Moon Lord. Calamity also rebalances vanilla wings. See the wing list and item tooltips for the options available in your installed version.

Example: Skyline Wings
Skyline Wings are a craftable Pre-Hardmode option. The wiki lists 1.33 seconds of flight and a maximum height of 60.5 tiles for this item. Treat those as version-sensitive item stats: check the in-game tooltip or current item entry before relying on them. The wiki showed version marker 2026.4.3.0 when checked on October 8, 2026; stats and availability can change between mod releases.
Why you might not be flying
- No wings equipped: Check that a wing accessory is in an accessory slot; owning wings is not enough.
- Wrong input: Confirm the Jump binding in the Controls menu and hold it after jumping.
- Using the MOAB: This item grants four jumps before flight, so it does not work exactly like ordinary wings. See its current item entry for details.
- Flight already spent: Keep holding Jump to glide, then land or hook onto a block to reset flight time.
How to compare wing options
Do not assume all wings fly for the same duration or move at the same speed. Compare each item’s progression availability, flight time, maximum height, horizontal and vertical speeds, acceleration, and any special behavior such as hovering or extra jumps. The wiki says wing tooltips show flight time, maximum speeds, and acceleration; use the tooltip or the item page matching your installed version.
