If Minecraft banned your account, the legitimate route is to request an official Case Review when the enforcement meets Minecraft’s eligibility rules. If only one privately owned server banned you, appeal to that server’s administrator instead. First identify which kind of ban you have; the appeal route depends on who imposed it.
First, identify where the ban applies
| Ban type | What it affects | Who to contact | Does the official account Case Review route apply? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minecraft account enforcement | Minecraft says the banned player cannot play on servers, join Realms, or host or join multiplayer games. The ban is linked to the Microsoft account’s unique ID, not its gamertag or profile name. Minecraft Help | Submit a Case Review if the enforcement meets the eligibility criteria below. Minecraft Community Standards | Only if the enforcement is active, lasts longer than 24 hours, and was issued within the last 12 months. |
| Private-server ban | Restriction imposed by one privately owned server, which is self-moderated at its owner’s discretion. Minecraft Help | Contact that server’s administrator to appeal. | No. Minecraft’s account Case Review criteria are for account enforcement, not a private server’s moderation decision. |
Minecraft says it generally does not intervene in private-server bans, except where the server’s conduct overtly violates the Minecraft EULA or Terms of Service. Minecraft Help

How to appeal a Minecraft account ban
Minecraft’s Community Standards say you may submit a Case Review only when all three conditions apply:
- The enforcement is still active.
- Its duration is greater than 24 hours.
- It was issued in the last 12 months.
Check the current Community Standards and Case Review page for the form and any current submission requirements. If one of the three conditions is not met, the page does not establish that Case Review is available for that enforcement.

- Confirm the enforcement. Check which Microsoft account received it and whether it is an account-level action or a ban limited to a particular server.
- Check eligibility. Make sure the action is active, lasts more than 24 hours, and was issued within the past 12 months.
- Submit a factual explanation. Identify the specific enforcement and explain why you believe it was mistaken. Include accurate context that helps clarify what happened; do not misrepresent events.
- Follow the official process. Use the Case Review link and instructions on Minecraft’s Community Standards page.
Mojang Studios states in its Community Standards: “We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban anyone who violates these Community Standards or this EULA.” Minecraft Community Standards A review is a request, not a guarantee that the decision will change; Minecraft’s cited pages do not promise a decision timeframe.
How to appeal a private-server ban
Contact the administrator of the server that banned you and use its stated appeal process, if it has one. Explain the situation clearly and provide any relevant context. Server owners moderate their own privately owned servers, so a Minecraft account Case Review is not the route for reversing that server’s decision. Minecraft Help

What conduct can lead to a ban?
Minecraft lists examples of conduct that may result in bans, including hate speech, sexual content or soliciting improper contact, real-life threats, exposing another person’s personal information, links to malicious software, impersonating staff, cheating or exploits that negatively affect another player’s gameplay, and general commercial spam. Minecraft Help
The Community Standards also describe hate speech, terrorist or violent extremist content, bullying, harassment, sexual solicitation, fraud, and threats among violations that may result in temporary suspension or a permanent ban. The examples do not mean every violation receives the same sanction. Minecraft Community Standards

Check Realms Plus billing if the banned account is subscribed
Minecraft Help advises people with a banned account and a Realms Plus subscription to cancel the subscription to avoid charges for content they cannot access. Follow the official account-ban and appeal guidance for cancellation instructions; the steps may depend on the platform or how the subscription was purchased.
Minecraft’s EULA says the EULA and Microsoft Services Agreement apply to Minecraft services, while Minecraft Shop and Minecraft Education have separate terms. It also describes Microsoft-account requirements for purchases or Realms subscriptions made through Microsoft’s website, Microsoft Store, or Xbox, while other platforms may have their own terms. Check the terms for the platform and purchase path you used rather than assuming they are identical. Minecraft EULA

Why alternate accounts or VPNs are not an appeal
Minecraft says an account ban is tied to the Microsoft account’s unique ID rather than the gamertag or profile name. Its official guidance points account holders to Case Review when eligible and directs private-server appeals to the server administrator. It does not present alternate accounts, purchased accounts, or VPNs as appeal methods; trying to evade a restriction does not address or reverse the original enforcement.
