How to repair the relationship through gameplay
Start with the relationship itself rather than repeatedly selecting romantic interactions. EA’s guide to romance, attraction, and sexuality explains that Sim Profiles can show sentiments. Check the profile and current emotional states to see whether lingering negative feelings may be affecting the interaction.

- Pause and let the Sims cool down. An EA Forums community reply recommends waiting for negative buffs or sentiments to settle before apologizing. It does not give a fixed wait time, so there is no universal number of in-game hours or days to follow.
- Improve both Sims’ moods. The same community reply suggests trying again when the Sims are in better moods. Treat this as a player-reported tactic, not an official requirement.
- Try an apology. If it fails, give the situation more time and try again later rather than assuming a particular number of apologies will work.
- Rebuild with friendly interactions. If romantic actions are rejected, focus on friendly interactions first. Gradually try romance again when the interactions are going better.
This is a sensible sequence to try, not a guaranteed recipe: the available guidance establishes no universal relationship threshold, interaction count, recovery time, or success rate. The steps are based on an EA Forums community reply, not a promise from EA that every save will respond the same way.
What Lovestruck adds
If you own The Sims 4 Lovestruck Expansion Pack, two additional systems may matter. EA says Romance Dynamics can affect Sims’ autonomous behavior and can be worked on through interactions over time; negative effects of a dynamic may lessen if that effort succeeds. Romantic Satisfaction affects how quickly romance fades and can be influenced by romance style and preferences. Why an interaction may count as cheating
In The Sims 4, Romantic Boundaries let players control which partner behaviors trigger jealousy. EA describes separate settings for physical romance, non-physical romance, and WooHoo or Mess Around; some jealousy triggers can also be changed through conversations. Checking these settings can help explain why an interaction caused jealousy in your save. Changing a boundary is not described as removing an existing hurt sentiment or repairing the relationship on its own. Details are in EA’s guide.
Gameplay repair, cheats, or Lovestruck systems?

Choose based on whether you want the relationship to recover through play, want to alter its value directly, own Lovestruck, and—on console—want to preserve achievements or trophies.

This command is community-reported, not listed in EA’s cheat FAQ, so its behavior may vary by game version or platform. EA warns that on PlayStation and Xbox, using cheats that require testingcheats true disables achievements or trophies on the current save, not on other saves.
