In Minecraft Peaceful mode, you can get slimeballs without fighting Slimes: look for baby pandas, which sometimes sneeze them out, and check wandering trader offers when one appears. Slimes do not spawn on Peaceful, so slime chunks and swamps will not provide the usual drops.
Get slimeballs from baby pandas
This is the clearest documented Peaceful-mode option. Minecraft’s official Slimeball article, published June 24, 2021, says that baby pandas sometimes sneeze out slimeballs. It does not specify how often this happens or how long you might wait, so treat it as an occasional possibility rather than a predictable source.
Keep an eye on baby pandas and collect any slimeballs they sneeze out. The official article confirms the method but does not give a special setup, probability, or expected yield.
Check wandering trader offers
A wandering trader may offer slimeballs, according to the community-maintained Peaceful resource guide. When a trader appears, inspect the trade screen; the offer is not guaranteed. The available source does not establish a current universal offer rate across Minecraft editions, so this is best treated as a chance to check rather than a dependable farm.

Why slime chunks and swamps do not work on Peaceful
Slimes do not spawn at Peaceful difficulty, so searching a slime chunk or waiting in a swamp will not get you slimeballs from Slime drops while you remain on that setting. Minecraft’s official Slimeball article describes Slimes in swamp biomes as a normal source of slimeballs; that is not an exception to Peaceful spawning rules.
Official Java snapshot notes offer a useful version-specific caution: in Snapshot 25w31a, monster spawn eggs warn on Peaceful and do not spawn the monster, and the notes say that /summon fails for monsters on Peaceful. These are Java snapshot notes, not a complete rules reference for every edition and release.

Do not confuse new Peaceful spawns with Slimes
Minecraft Java 26.2 Snapshot 4, published April 21, 2026, says Hoglins, Piglins, and Sulfur Cubes can now spawn on Peaceful in that testing snapshot. It does not list Slimes. This change is specific to the named Java snapshot and is not evidence that Slimes spawn on Peaceful in released versions or other editions.

Which route should you try?
- Baby pandas: The official Minecraft article confirms that they sometimes sneeze out slimeballs, but gives no odds or schedule.
- Wandering traders: Check their offers when they appear; slimeballs are not a guaranteed offer, and no universal current rate is established by the cited guide.
- Slime chunks or swamps: Skip these while staying on Peaceful, because Slimes do not spawn there at this difficulty.
Slimeballs are used for items including leads, magma cream, sticky pistons, and slime blocks; Minecraft’s official article says nine slimeballs make one slime block. These uses do not change which acquisition methods work on Peaceful.
