Overwatch 2 cross-progression uses a Battle.net account to bring eligible console and PC data together. PC progress carries over automatically; console players must link their platform account and confirm a merge. Cosmetics are shared, but competitive ratings, statistics and settings do not all combine in the same way.
How to link accounts and confirm a merge
Blizzard’s Overwatch account merge FAQ says a Battle.net account is required to play on every platform. For console, linking and confirming the merge is the route for carrying eligible progress into Overwatch 2.

- On your console, sign in to Overwatch and scan the in-game QR code.
- Enter the displayed code to connect the console account to an existing Battle.net account, or create one.
- In the game, review the accounts shown and confirm the merge only if they are the accounts you intend to combine.
PC players can manage connected accounts through Battle.net Connections. Before confirming, check that the intended console accounts are associated with the correct Battle.net account: Blizzard says the merge cannot be freely redirected to another Battle.net account afterward.
Does Overwatch 2 progress transfer between console and PC?
Eligible data from linked accounts is gathered into the Battle.net profile, but each data category follows its own rule. PC progress carries over automatically, while console players must confirm a merge. PC and console competitive ratings and statistics remain separated by input pool; gameplay settings also remain separate by platform.

What carries over—and what stays separate?
| Data | How it works after merging |
|---|---|
| Hero Gallery cosmetics | Items from across platforms appear in the merged account. Duplicate items are combined. |
| Competitive rating | PC and console input pools are separate. If multiple console accounts are merged, the highest rank is used. |
| Statistics | Statistics are separated by input pool. For merged console accounts, total values such as playtime or wins are summed; best values such as accuracy or kill streaks use the highest value. |
| Endorsements | The highest endorsement carries over. |
| Achievements | In-game achievements are included. Console-specific achievements remain on their original platforms. |
| Gameplay settings | Settings remain per platform, with console settings separate from PC settings. |
| Custom games | Custom game options from each account are included. Recent Custom/Workshop game links are retained up to Blizzard’s stated maximum. |
| Currencies | Overwatch credits and Overwatch League tokens are generally summed. Overwatch League tokens purchased on Nintendo Switch do not merge and remain on that platform. |
What to know before unlinking or changing accounts
Blizzard’s FAQ says only one account per platform can be linked to a Battle.net account. Console accounts can be unlinked, but a one-year cooldown applies before a different account can be linked. These account-change rules are consequential; check Blizzard’s current support guidance before unlinking.
A newly linked console account can access progression and items already on the Battle.net account, but its own progress and items do not transfer into that account. In other words, linking a replacement console account is not a way to add its separate history to an already merged profile.
