GTA 5 does not have a standard Los Santos Customs ejector-seat upgrade. The familiar car-launch effect comes from a PC script or a FiveM server resource that removes your character from a vehicle and applies an upward force. The classic single-player script uses the Numpad Add key, while FiveM resources can add seat-specific controls, parachutes, use limits and driver-protection rules.
What an ejector-seat mod actually is
An ejector-seat mod is a gameplay script, not a vehicle part sold at Los Santos Customs. In single-player Story Mode, the script watches for a configured keyboard input, checks whether your current vehicle is allowed, removes the player from the vehicle and launches the player upward. The car, bike or aircraft remains below unless another setting causes it to explode.

The best-known classic release is Ejection Seat [.NET] by Pandassaurus. Its listing, version 0.2.1 from 2015, records 4,427 downloads. The author describes it as a way to press “Add” on the number pad in motorcycles, quadbikes, topless cars, convertibles and some planes. It is an old Script Hook-based novelty script, so its behavior should not be treated as a native feature or as a guaranteed physics simulation on every current game build.

How the classic single-player script works
Triggering an ejection
With the script installed and its realism check satisfied, press the Numpad Add key (the key labeled “Add” on the numeric keypad). The script can display a three-second countdown, then eject the ped vertically. The player is no longer seated in the vehicle during the launch, and the vehicle is left behind at the takeoff point.

The settings file exposes the countdown, the realism restriction, a fire-trail effect, an experimental seat prop and the push force. The documented default push-force value is 10. These are configuration values rather than separate upgrades that can be purchased in-game.
Optional vehicle destruction
During the ascent, pressing E can detonate the abandoned vehicle. That is an optional dramatic effect, not part of the physical ejection itself. If you want to land safely, do not press E unless you deliberately want the vehicle to explode below you.
Cosmetic effects and the seat prop
The fire trail is described as purely aesthetic. The visible ejector-seat prop is experimental: the author says it does not work properly, and the changelog notes that the seat-with-rocket simulation is currently not working. A successful launch therefore does not imply that a functioning rocket seat model appears under the character.
Which vehicles pass the realism check?
When realism mode is enabled, the script restricts ejection to vehicle types in its documented list. The restriction is intended to make an open cockpit or exposed rider plausible rather than allowing an invisible seat to punch through every roof.
- Convertibles: The roof may need to be stationary while it opens before the script accepts the ejection.
- Topless cars: Open-top vehicles are included in the documented scope.
- Motorcycles and quadbikes: The rider is already exposed, making these common test vehicles.
- Bicycles: These are also listed as eligible.
- Open-top aircraft: The Stunt Plane is given as an example.
- Aircraft with a windshield over the cockpit: The Lazer is listed as an example of this category.
Disabling realism removes that vehicle-type gate. That setting can make the script respond in vehicles that the author did not intend to support, so a launch through a roof or an odd animation is a predictable trade-off rather than evidence that the mod has become more realistic.

What changes in actual gameplay
A rapid vertical escape
The practical change is an emergency-style exit that sends the player upward instead of making them leave through a door or fall from a damaged vehicle. It is useful mainly as a stunt, a role-play escape or a way to get clear of a vehicle quickly. The script does not turn an ordinary car into a military aircraft, add a new vehicle category or provide a normal upgrade menu.
Parachutes are not dependable in the classic script
A PC Gamer hands-on report by Joshua Wolens, published 14 October 2026, described the script as a button-activated vehicle escape and found that the advertised parachute descent did not happen reliably. That is an observation from one tested setup, not a universal measurement for every build, but it is an important warning: install the classic script expecting a launch, not a guaranteed parachute recovery.

Force values can become unstable
The same report found that setting Force to 100,000 appeared to crash the game on launch. It also found that the mod did not preserve momentum well enough to make attempts to land back in the car dependable. There is no controlled benchmark establishing survival rates, force accuracy or performance across vehicle models. Keep the default force or make small changes, and test in a disposable Story Mode save rather than assuming a high number produces a better jump.
Why the effect is not physics-accurate
The author’s comments about the broken seat prop and the changelog’s note about the non-working seat-and-rocket simulation show that the central effect is a script-driven push. It is not a complete aircraft ejection system with verified seat separation, stabilization, parachute deployment and controlled landing. Animation glitches, inconsistent momentum and a missing visual seat are within the expected limitations.
Native aircraft behavior versus a car-ejection script
Cfx.re’s vehicle-flags reference includes FLAG_HAS_EJECTOR_SEATS, described as ejecting a ped from an aircraft when bailing in mid-air, with the flag listed for build b1180. This is an engine behavior for aircraft bailing. It does not add a user-triggered ejector seat to ordinary cars, and it does not replace Script Hook or a FiveM resource.

That distinction explains why an aircraft may show a built-in bailing behavior while a car remains unable to launch its driver without a script. The flag and the general-purpose vehicle mod solve different problems: one describes an aircraft property in the game engine; the other listens for a key and applies a custom ejection action.

The documented setup is for PC Story Mode. It requires Script Hook V, Script Hook V .NET, a scripts folder in the game installation, EjectionSeat.cs and EjectionSeatSettings.txt. Use a clean Story Mode test and keep a backup of the original files before adding scripts.
- Install a compatible copy of Script Hook V for your GTA 5 build.
- Install Script Hook V .NET, which is required for the C# script.
- In the GTA 5 installation directory, create or use the required
scriptsfolder. - Copy
EjectionSeat.csandEjectionSeatSettings.txtinto that folder, preserving the filenames and extensions. - Start Story Mode, enter a vehicle from the realism list and test the Numpad Add key.
- If the launch works, adjust one setting at a time in the text configuration and restart as required by your script setup.
This arrangement is a local PC mod. It should not be presented as support for official GTA Online sessions. Rockstar’s support guidance, updated 15 September 2026, directs players to its Terms of Service, Creator Platform License Agreement and Mod Guidelines for the rules that apply to single-player and Story Mode modifications.
How FiveM ejector-seat resources differ
FiveM implementations are server resources, so the server owner controls installation and behavior. A resource such as Envi-Ejector-Seats can eject players from seats, assign a keybind per seat, optionally give an ejected player a parachute, limit the number of uses, restrict installation by job and prevent the driver from being ejected.
Seat-specific controls
Instead of one local hotkey that applies to the player’s current vehicle, a server resource can define separate controls for individual seats. That supports role-play situations such as ejecting a passenger while protecting the driver, or allowing only a particular crew position to activate the mechanism.

Server permissions and limits
Use limits and job locks are multiplayer rules, not properties of the underlying vehicle model. A server can decide who may install or use the feature and how many times it works. These controls persist as part of the server’s resource configuration rather than in a file that every player edits locally.
Optional parachute recovery
FiveM resources can explicitly provide a parachute after ejection. That option addresses the classic script’s unreliable descent behavior, but it still depends on the individual server’s configuration. If a server has disabled the parachute or exhausted a use limit, the player should not expect an automatic recovery.

Troubleshooting common failures
Numpad Add does nothing
- Confirm that you are in PC Story Mode and that Script Hook V and Script Hook V .NET are installed.
- Check that both required files are in the
scriptsfolder and that the script is loading without a filename or extension change. - Test a motorcycle, quadbike or another documented open vehicle before disabling realism.
- Make sure the numeric keypad key you are pressing is the script’s configured Add key; a laptop’s emulated keypad may not send the same input.
The convertible will not eject
Let the vehicle stop and allow its roof to open. The documented behavior notes that convertibles may need to be stationary while the roof opens. If the vehicle remains closed, try a motorcycle or another clearly open vehicle to separate a vehicle-state issue from an installation issue.
The player launches but has no parachute
That is a known limitation of the classic script’s reported behavior, not proof that the key failed. A parachute is an optional server feature in some FiveM resources, but it is not a dependable outcome of the older single-player script.
The game crashes after changing Force
Return to the default value of 10, then make only small adjustments. The reported crash occurred with an extreme value of 100,000. There is no evidence that very large forces improve control or safety.

The seat is invisible or looks broken
The seat prop is experimental and is explicitly described as not working properly. The launch can function even when the visual seat does not.
The vehicle explodes unexpectedly
Pressing E during ascent is the documented vehicle-detonation command. Avoid that key while testing a safe landing or checking whether the ejection itself works.
Which implementation should you use?
Choose the classic script if you want a local Story Mode stunt, are comfortable installing Script Hook components and accept that the effect is experimental. Keep the realism gate enabled for the most predictable vehicle selection, leave Force near its default and treat the parachute as unavailable unless your own testing proves otherwise.

The practical bottom line
An ejector-seat vehicle mod changes how the player exits a vehicle by applying a scripted upward launch; it does not add a normal GTA 5 upgrade. The classic PC script is simple and configurable but has an experimental seat prop, unreliable parachute behavior and sensitivity to extreme force settings. FiveM resources offer more controlled multiplayer features because the server can define seats, permissions, parachutes and limits. The engine’s native ejector-seat flag remains an aircraft bailing behavior, not a universal car upgrade.
