Firewalk Studios formed in 2018, Ars Technica reported, but that fact alone does not establish when Concord’s development began. Sony’s official PlayStation Podcast page identifies a July 2024 episode featuring Weisnewski and lead gameplay designer Claude Jerome, but it does not provide a transcript of the duration statement.

When did Concord go offline, and why did it shut down?
Concord went offline beginning September 6, 2024, after Sony and Firewalk stopped sales on September 3. In his announcement, game director Ryan Ellis said the team would “explore options, including those that will better reach our players.” Sony later made the shutdown permanent. On October 29, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Studio Business Group Hermen Hulst said the PvP first-person shooter genre was competitive and continuously evolving, and that the company had not hit its targets with the title. Sony also confirmed Firewalk Studios would close.
Those were the companies’ public explanations at the time. They do not establish a single definitive cause or disclose the internal decision-making behind the shutdown. Sony’s September announcement covered refunds for PS5 and PC purchases, including physical copies bought at retail; it does not establish current availability or the reliability of any present-day listing.

What do the reported sales and player figures show?
They offer a limited snapshot, not an official final count. Ars Technica reported that GameDiscoverCo analyst Simon Carless estimated 25,000 total sales across PS5 and PC. The same outlet reported Circana analyst Mat Piscatella’s figures for a referenced Monday: Concord accounted for 0.2% of active PS5 players and ranked 147th among the most-played titles that day. These are attributed estimates and point-in-time tracking, respectively—not audited lifetime sales or a complete player-count history.
