A separate Steam estimate is substantially higher, but it is a model rather than a reported sales figure. The estimates measure and calculate different things, so neither should be presented as the official number or averaged into a supposed lifetime total.
What sales milestones have been reported?
The early milestone
A PC Gamer profile hosted in the Steam News archive reported that Undertale had sold half a million copies within three months of launch, and that the tally had doubled two months into the new year. This is a useful historical snapshot of the game’s early Steam-era success; it does not establish how many copies it has sold since.

The disagreement is a reminder that these figures depend on estimation methods and definitions. Neither source reports an official unit-sales total.

Valve does not publish per-game Steam sales figures, according to Steam Page Analyzer. Steam Spy therefore estimates ownership, while Steam Page Analyzer derives a range from reviews and a multiplier. Those are indirect measures, and ownership is not necessarily the same as a paid copy sold.

The cited sources also do not provide a current official total combining Steam with other platforms. An all-platform figure cannot be calculated reliably from the Steam estimates alone.
