Battlefield 4 launched with 10 distinct multiplayer maps. Electronic Arts listed the maps in its November 1, 2013 overview, shortly after the game’s initial retail launch.
Battlefield 4’s 10 launch maps
EA’s November 1, 2013 map overview names these ten maps:
- Zavod 311
- Flood Zone
- Golmud Railway
- Lancang Dam
- Paracel Storm
- Operation Locker
- Hainan Resort
- Siege of Shanghai
- Rogue Transmission
- Dawnbreaker
EA described the game as supporting all seven game modes across the maps. It characterized Golmud Railway as the largest multiplayer map, Operation Locker as focused on close-quarters infantry combat, and Siege of Shanghai as the first map shown; these are EA’s descriptions, not independent gameplay measurements.
What counts as a launch map?
The count refers to the distinct multiplayer maps in the initial game, not the full set added later. EA’s August 20, 2013 announcement described five Battlefield 4 Premium expansion packs featuring new multiplayer maps and other content, so those later maps are not part of the ten-map launch count.
Launch timing and platforms
EA announced Battlefield 4’s October 29, 2013 retail and digital release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Its announcement listed later console dates: PlayStation 4 on November 12 in North America and November 29 in Europe, and Xbox One on November 19 in North America and November 22 in Europe. EA’s map overview gives one general count and does not specify separate launch-map totals by platform.
