There is no single verified total for all Fortnite fish. Epic’s Creative documentation lists nine fish item categories, while its LEGO Fortnite v28.30 update notes list 15 fish introduced in that mode in 2024. Neither figure is the current Battle Royale count, which can change by season and has not been confirmed for Chapter 7 Season 4.
Why Fortnite fish counts differ
“Types” can refer to item categories, named fish variants or models, or the fish currently available to catch in a particular mode. Those are different counting units. Creative inventory categories, LEGO Fortnite fish, and Battle Royale’s seasonal fishing pool should not be added together or treated as one roster.

What are the nine Creative fish categories?
Epic’s Creative documentation lists these categories as items creators can place on an island or grant to players, including for healing and status effects:

Which 15 fish did LEGO Fortnite add?
Epic’s LEGO Fortnite v28.30 Gone Fishin’ notes list 15 fish introduced in that 2024 update:

In the same update notes, Epic says catch availability depends on biome and water, weather, and time of day. Bait thrown into water creates a Fishing Spot. Is there a current Battle Royale fish count?
A reliable exact count for the Battle Royale pool in Chapter 7 Season 4 is not established. Epic’s August 20, 2026 announcement identifies the season as Override but does not provide a complete fish list. The Fortnite Wiki’s Fish page reports 44 fish models obtainable through the Fishing mechanic across nine sub-categories. That is a secondary source’s historical model count, not an official, current all-mode total.
